I can see why you miss him so much, Auggy!

Houryoko shincha fukamushi. I have been distracted today and really overbrewed this. Really astringent, but still drinkable do to its great "aroma" and underlying taste.

A quieter Saturday on TeaDay so far.

Some Xian Ming (Chinese green). I used to drink more chinese greens but now I definitively prefer japanese greens.

Ditto Olivierco. I used to drink Chinese greeens at least 75% of the time easily...only 2-3 years ago. Now I drink them around 10% of the time...especially now during shincha availablity.

Now I drink Japanese greens at least 75% of the time.

I'm having Formosa high mountain oolong brewed in a Taiwanese clay pot and it is GOOD, much improved over porcelain.

Also, I like moo cats.

Using a new Korean teapot for the first time that is perfect for gyokuro...so...a rare gyokuro session. Teaware makes the tea better...or worse. This definitely made it better.

Really amazing gyo from Yame prefecture. Having gyokuro only a few times a month also makes it that much more special.

The flower is a Blood Lily (Scadoxus multiflorus or Haemanthus multiflorus). A native of southern Africa, it blooms briefly but spectacularly. About the shiny, rather hideous cup, it is old; but otherwise, I think the less said the better.
OK, Sal, I confess I like the flower more than the cup. I have eye balled this flower for years, but would have to be potted in these parts. Is this from your garden, or did you buy it potted up?

Aroma

I remember reading somewhere that the sense of smell was most closely associated with memory! I am having my new driveway put in during my vacation because I love the smell of hot asphalt.. I remember as a 3 year old the road in front of my home being paved. I googled this and found others with the same experience, others like gasoline, cut wood and worms after a rainstorm! I had Fukamushi Sencha Supreme today, aroma was terrible and I thought I oversteeped it!! It was delicious and soon the aroma was unimportant! Victoria would know more about this, but this is my experience.
