I'm so happy to find someone else who uses a pyrex measuring cup to brew their morning tea in -( it might not be as aesthetic a choice ) - but reading here I've learned that allowing space for the leaves to unfurl is important. I'd like to get a little teapot lined by its inner infuser. 16 - 17 oz sounds right for the morning.

Exactly! It works great to let the leaves unfurl and you can even enjoy watching the leaves expand as the tea steeps, but I'd rather have an actual teapot so it has a lid to keep the temperature better. My kyusu is only 10oz so it doesn't work to fill my travel mugs for work and the other teapots that I have are too big. I agree with you that it would be nice to have one with an inner screen so I don't have to find my strainer that inevitably ends up at the bottom of the dish drainer every time I am looking for it.

I am currently on the fifth steep of Hashiri Shincha. I added a little more leaf this time to experience the bitterness that others were tasting. It was stronger than my first time brewing it which was nice. The bitterness was interesting. The first sip felt like a strong kick in the mouth, but after the initial shock, it wasn't bad. I think less leaf is slightly better in the case of this tea.

Kagoshima shincha again from Joel...sweet!
Hashiri right now.
Some Fukamushi Supreme iced that was leftover from yesterday.

It is not since Sunday April 14th that a TeaDay did not hit 40 posts...a pretty long streak...hate to see it die.

I might "accidently" leave this topic open tonight in case anyone wants to post frivolously to keep the streak alive!!!

Not sure we will make it unless
we keep talking to ourselves!
And that could happen.

It wasn't a priority...but I bought two little combination teapot/cups yesterday, to give as gifts. They were just so cute!

Now I'm debating if I need one, too....

And you, you are a thousand miles away,
There are always two cups on my table.

Did we make 40 posts?

I have three other little pot/cup combinations already. Himself (my better but non-comprehending spouse) is already appalled at the number of tea items in the house.

It hit 41 posts actually. I just wanted to be #42 since 42 is an awesome number. This is when you find one of your S.O.'s hobbies that you don't comprehend and ask him about why he has so much stuff or spends so much time with his hobby. Or compromise so that you can get a new tea item and he can get some else.

 Chip, are you saying I talk a lot????

Geez, and to think your little box went out yesterday! I should have held it for ransom! In return, I just will not send you the tracking number so now you have to wait at the mailbox instead of knowing when it will show up. So there! :P
