May I add that sometimes we do get a bargain in North America.
An example of this can be found at 'another ripe cake query' thread.
As far as I know, 2003 Golden Sail cake would cost up to a few hundreds now in China. After all, we are in a 'tiny' market for Pu.

Has anyone had any of the menhai Peacock series pu? YS just added 4 different cakes to their list. They look interesting.

I may be wrong but I thought he ment RMB, so about $29 USD.

that little brick is awesome. my next order will be getting a couple of cakes of the same tea. the other cake, that 2008 one, i have not tried it yet but you know what? mengku shuangjiang makes bloody good tea imo. just stock up on it, i think the price of pu may go up next year.

Scott does note that the 2006 Lao Ban Zhang cakes may taste different than the mini bricks. I'd be interested to hear what the differences may be like from someone who has tasted both...

Its so hard to decide, that banzhang brick costs more than a 400 g. cake! For those of you that have the brick and some $10-$15 Mengku cakes, is it really worth it? Since I'm just starting my collection maybe just a decent 400g. cake will be better for me than a really nice 100g. brick.

You can never go wrong with Banzhang. Of course assuming it is the real McCoy.

I had the 2005 menghai peacock -- it is pretty decent for a young sheng, not too harsh.
I had actually ordered a different beeng from menghai, I believe "spring of menghai. That was out of stock, so Guang substituted the peacock which he told me was a better tea anyway.

Does anyone have any suggestions for currently available raw tea that is semi aged in the 7 - 10 year old range and preferably sweet? Most of the ones in this old thread are probably unavailable. They do not have to be gushu, just good sheng.
