those pots are fantastic.
it certainly pings..not as solidly and cleanly as those. but i'd say it sounds nearest to the one labeled as 'Early O.R.C Pear-Skinned Zhu Ni 120cc' 26secs into the vid.
thing is you get different sounds depending on what surface you have it standing on. guess you need a good solid surface with a dampener underneath.

I've been eyeing two of his pots for a while. One of the DHP you guys mentioned and one from the "green" clay -

Anyone has experience with those?
Also, I've been considering buying a teatable from YS, but I'm not sure about the quality, particularly this one seems interesting to me:

I ordered two of the dahongpao pots. I've received one but haven't gotten the one I ordered on July 25th yet. I'm being patient.lastcoyote wrote:yep smelt fine hardly of anything really. certainly no earthy musty smells.
I'm not going to give a full report until after I receive the other, but I will say two things now. The pot I have is very nice looking. The pot I have now fails the smell test. I boiled it for 45 min and rinsed with boiling water many times. I've brewed dan cong in it a few times too. The thing is, the pot smells a bit like wet latex paint. Say it's been on the shelf for a few days, dry with the lid on, and I open the lid and smell, I get a nose full of latex paint smell. Lastcoyote, does yours have the same smell? It's weird, I've never had a pot that smelled like this before. I should say that if the lid is left off for a while the smell almost is undetectable, but put the lid back on and in a few hours it's back. Maybe it'll go away with use.

hi smelly..
can't believe you've still not got the other pot yet! do you live on another planet or something?
patience is a virtue. ...so they say.
my pot just has a very faint clay smell. certainly not like latex paint
be interested when the other one 'eventually' arrives if it's the same.
overall i'm quite pleased with the pot. still hunger for more though.

Alright, my pots came the other day. Thankfully, virtually smell free. The only thing I could smell in the pots was the smell from the boxes they come in. Once they were seasoned, all was good.
As for the pots themselves, I really like them so far. Very heavy for the size, and they have a nice feel to them. Tapping with a spoon gives you a nice ring, instead of the thud I get with my cheap pots. Lids fit tight, the pour is fast. What more is there to say? Worth the $55? Yep.

Any chance you could take photos of the bottom seal (and lid seal if any)? I'm just curious if it's the same seal as some other pots of his.lastcoyote wrote:i'm liking this little fella from Tea Masters:

Good looking pots, Trioxin. My dragon egg version came last week - less than three weeks by SAL. No off smell here either, and it looks and feels great. I am doing a three day Oolong seasoning and will try it out soon. The YSLLC site says 130 ml, but I measure it at about 100 ml, which is fine for gung fu.Trioxin wrote:Alright, my pots came the other day. Thankfully, virtually smell free. Let us know how yours brews and if it works better with some teas than others.
