I'll still drink the occasional tea brewed from a commercial teabag, I think.

Welcome wowi! I think you'll find TeaChat not a bad substitute for sharing your tea in the morning if you join in.

Still drink crappy restaurant iced tea too. I try, try, try not to be a TeaSnob, but it's tough, especially around here where it's soooo easy to get precious over fancy teas.

I'm sorry Geek, I'll send the Oolong Box Pass address right away, I thought I had done so already!GeekgirlUnveiled wrote: Seems I burnt out on oolong really fast, having had 5 different oolongs in 2 days. Usually I do an oolong session once a day or every other. I will probably hold a few samples over, and send the box on its merry way later this week. (If you're next on the list, I need your addy!)
Nice pic! Never tried mate. I'll get to that one eventually.
Still working on my 2nd steep of my breakfast Darjeeling.
I added some ice.

Not just a resource, but a TeaFellowship where bonds of friendship are often forged. I am glad you have posted and welcome you to the forum and fellowship! The Big Easy is such an interesting place. I love the food, in fact, I am going to be cooking up a batch of jambalaya in a little while, yum, but not good with tea.cajunwowi wrote: This forum is such a great resource for a newbie like myself. It does lack the personal connection that a TeaMeet would offer but a great resource never-the-less. I really need to stop being a peeping tom and join in on the discussions. I promise to work on it
TeaMeets of TeaChatters are fun to read about. I have met several as Xine mentioned, meeting almost the whole Adagio crew, that was great. The Expo was a bit of a distraction though.
I have plans to meet TeaChatters, in fact talking about one currently here. Kagoshima Throwdown!
Hopefully more to follow!
Sarah, there is discussion on the more conference oriented meet as well. Maybe you will be on the committee!?
Adagio Keemun Concerto to start the day. Amazing session of Fukamushi Supreme is winding down. Perhaps the best of the bag.
I love your mate set up. I've tried mate a few times before and I think it's too strong for me. The gourds and bombilla I would like to collect thoughGeekgirlUnveiled wrote: In yet another departure from oolong sampling, I'm having a bit of roasted mate. Yes, I do take a pinch of sugar, brown, please.
Lemon grass tea in my cup now, yumm...
Have only been drinking Four Season Oolong today. Got it oversteeped until I understood how short brewing-times it requires. Now I'm on the 8th steep and it still wants not a sec more than 25... but it is nice, though I don't think I'll buy it. Dong Ding and Gui Hua hit the spot better for me.
I'd love a teameet. Have already met a fellow Swedish tea blogger. The distance to many fellow tea chatters is quite big, though... if anyone lives in Sweden or comes here and wanna meet, I've got a cup ready!

Looks like I will be placing another order with YSLLC or DTH sooner rather than later. My dog, this bad one here,

ate my tea brush this morning. He was quite proud of himself. grrrrr....

I'll be right there!cajunwowi wrote: As for the poll...I would love to find someone in New Orleans that has a similar interest in a good cup of tea.
Nice pics today. I've had mate a few times but not willing to invest in the gourd, etc to go w/it.
Only one TeaMeet so far but it was fun. Elchai & I met last month while she was visiting family in Atlanta. Hopefully Omegapd & I can work out a way to coordinate our schedules & families to meet sometime when he's in my area. Others meets have been discussed but will have to see what happens.
Yesterday was a good tea day but not today. Tried mixing Oolong #8, Peach Oolong & Vanilla Oolong together this morning w/bfast. After trying it alone & mixed w/other teas, I have officially concluded that I do not like Peach Oolong. Hopefully tonight's tea will redeem the day.
Awwww poor pup - well if you hadn't shared your cups of tea with him then refused to fill his water bowl with tea, what else could he do?GeekgirlUnveiled wrote:Looks like I will be placing another order with YSLLC or DTH sooner rather than later. My dog, this bad one here,

Nice excuse anyway.

Thanks for pointing these out. As much as I have looked at this cup, I never identified them as momiji.Buzz Fledderjohn wrote: Looks like there are some red momiji (Japanese maple) on that face left shot too. Another symbol of fall.
Thank you for the enormous compliment; makes me feel great! Must be sky ... but just floating there?jazz88 wrote: Salsero, such a beautiful cup! I love your images – they are one of the main reasons I click on this topic. ~snip~ To me the blue shape looks like stylized sky.
I would love more details about the big Indy meet up if anyone is willing to narrate … I am awful pleased to hear you did not make a scene, but I would be more convinced if Augie’s report came with independent corroboration.augie wrote:Hey, they did invite us back anytime. If you click on either of the face left links, you should get a macroscopic view of the crosshatching … but there still isn’t much there. If the blue is sky, then in the absence of greater wisdom I am taking the crosshatching to be earth, possibly tilled earth. Chamekke, I am constantly floored by your knowledge. I still say an ISBN number for you is way past due, but where do we stick it? On your spine?chamekke wrote: 5) Hard to say about the cross-hatched area... is it possible to get a more full shot of that?
In my cup: nothing
Tea meet? Travel is problematic for me since I have a dependent child and a more dependent parent, but I might try. Have a vague thought to meet Russian Soul someday since my eldest is moving to Chicago sometime this year and I occasionally make it to the Morningstar Conference up there and it’s the best town in the whole world.
Got a huge bag of exotic tea from Tomas in Slovakia! **Dance of joy** My 3 Czech great-great grandparents will probably come to haunt me now.

I think its a splendid idea and if the location and timing were well-planned, I think we'd get some nice publicity... good for Teachat, good for Adagio, and good for spreading the love of tea beyond our own boundaries. Has potential!

Henley... have you tried half White Peach and half Peach Oolong? I made a sig blend called Just Peachy wtih those 2, and it's a big favorite of mine... and sometimes I throw in some tky or whatever is handy to cut the flavor down a notch.henley wrote:Tried mixing Oolong #8, Peach Oolong & Vanilla Oolong together this morning w/bfast. Everyone has their taste preferences, and maybe this one is not yours... I am finding that the more I drink nicer teas, the less I like vanilla anything... and rooibos has become a big NO for me. Honeybush is ok but not far behind rooibos. If you hate your peach oolong no matter what, let me know and we'll do some trading if you give up on it.

You are an instigator, my friend. You can ask anyone in the group, I was very well behaved. No air guitar singing and dancing with a tea cozy on my head.Salsero wrote:I would love more details about the big Indy meet up if anyone is willing to narrate … I am awful pleased to hear you did not make a scene, but I would be more convinced if Augie’s report came with independent corroboration.
We met at New Age People, which is a very interesting place. They serve tea, coffee, kashi bars, doritos, Recees cups, dried corn, etc . . . you just eat/drink whatever you want and tell them 2 hours later when you check out (if you remember). It's really cool: the only store you can buy all these items together in one stop: rosary, menorah, copy of The Secret on CD, reflexology socks, crystals to rub, aromatherapy, rose colored glasses, subliminal message CDs, polished rocks, statue of Buddha, money attractant roll-on. I could spend days in there.
We had an awesome time telling animal stories, video games, kids, everything. Scarlet Glow, Mr. Scarlet Glow, Mary R, Me, Smells_Familiar & Smellls_Familiar v1.0. Of which I am the old lady of the group. We are all happy about our new tea shop that is just North of our downtown and plan another meeting there soon.
But don't just take my word for it, ask someone else in the group.

Long Jing in sparkly glass cup. I forget how good Long Jing is sometimes. Man it looked sooo good in this cup, too.
Made homemade Jambalaya with everything including the kitchen sink thrown in. Intense. Yum, but now my TeaSenses are shot for an hour. I will be ready with another Japanese tea.
INDY TeaMeet group, sounds like it was a blast!
