Doesn't o-cha source something else from Tsuen as well? I wonder what else there is that they could magically pull out of their vendor hat.Chip wrote:O-Cha Asamusicha FTW
You asked for it, and O-Cha responded very quickly. This is what they offer as Kirameki, but this is post shincha, ichibancha. A premium hand picked asamushi from the historic Tsuen Tea House in Japan.

My interpretation of current situation:ryan wrote:Browsing a tea vendor who doesn't mention what type of green tea it is how do you know? Guessing based on what the leaf looks like in the picture?
Traditional tea shops sell you traditional sencha at fair price.
Small internet vendors sell you 'odd stuff' twice the market price.
I think "Yume no Ukihashi" and Manten may be as well.scruffmcgruff wrote:Otsuusan and Fujitsubo are both from Tsuen as well.
Fun little factoid: If you manage to find my very first post on the O-Cha board, you'll see Kevin mention that all of the Tsuen teas' names are somehow related to the Tale of Genji. I don't know how Kirameki relates, though.
Good news. I will sure buy it with my next order in a few weeks.Chip wrote:O-Cha Asamusicha FTW

Hm, a Yame sencha might be nice. I'll probably order some from zencha before I decide whether it's a category worth getting regularly or if it's just going to be a nice novelty tea.
I also wonder what kinda tea is going to be off of the normal grid. I.e. not sencha, gyokuro, hojicha, genmai, matcha, etc.

Now, anything else you guys might want?

And I am betting that Kevin will stick to his Chiran (Kagoshima) YM which is pretty Fukamushi, but really very banging.
