Pretty cup and seashell coaster. Using a little less came out creamier. Mmm... might have to try that.Cinnamon Kitty wrote:As much as I love all my tea ware, I have one cup that I love more than all of the other pieces. I finished up the little bit of sencha that I had left and it came out wonderful. Using a little bit less leaf gave it a lovely creamy, smooth, grassy flavor.

Here. Coincidentally, I am expecting my order from them to come in any day now; I ordered the brown infuser cup they sell.geeber1 wrote:Yowsa! That's a beautiful cup!Love your Foo Dog too!

So many beautiful things - I think if I could add anything it would be the cups and bowls decorated with the "grains of rice" design - I love the translucent quality.
I just got a little yixing teapot - about 6 oz capacity. Its very cute - dark gray with a very simple leaf and vine design on the bowl and handle and a spotted lizard on the top. It has a delicate Chinese mark on the bottem and inside the top.
At the moment, teapots win for me.
I've been using it for oolong (tonight I am drinking wuyi ensemble with honey). I
really prefer to make a larger cup of tea to drink - but this makes sense for
extra steepings

So what are your thoughts on the Fire Rings? What were your brewing parameters? I haven't gotten around to trying it again yet.Victoria wrote:Second steep of my Fire Rings - thought I'd post a pic

Took a little run up to the Japanese Garden yesterday afternoon so I could watch Tea Ceremony.

The Sensei's name was Margie, she has a blog here at SweetPersimmon1, and some nice intro to matcha sets here.
I enjoyed her presentation very much, she is an instructor at the Issoan Tea Room and school here in Portland. I had never heard of this organization.
And a little cutie-pie who stuck around to watch the fun:

Have you seen the squirrel stories set that they mentioned on the flickr blog a while back? Hilarious and oh so cute (though perhaps a bit neurotic)!GeekgirlUnveiled wrote:...And a little cutie-pie who stuck around to watch the fun...

I brewed it Western style - went 4 mins, 16oz and about 5 - 5.5g. I thought it was a nice change, nothing amazing, but I liked it. I little smokey and a slight metallic taste. I'll try it in a gaiwan next time, perfect for a gaiwan.GeekgirlUnveiled wrote: So what are your thoughts on the Fire Rings? What were your brewing parameters? Although I like my teapots, teacups win hands down! Love 'em!!!
Very pretty pics today.
I'm pooped! Left home at 9:00am & got home at 9:00pm but it was a fun day. Had a great time w/the extended family, the Braves won the ballgame & I had a new experience... I was at my first country music concert tonight. After the game, Travis Tritt performed. He had more of a classic rock sound rather than traditional country so he wasn't too bad.
Off to bed w/a cuppa Pouchong. Enjoy the rest of the evening!
