Green of course, specifically, Yutaka Midori Classic which is in my cup (shincha) still. It is one of the few teas I could drink every single day!!! So says the left side of my brain which is the crucial half, rational, analytical ...

Looking back on it, perhaps the best tea for being marooned on an island would be iced barley tea ... which is the most refreshing thing on a balmy summer day.

Tough one, I'd probably pick matcha, assuming the magical island would also supply me with chasen. Heh.
This morning I opened up my second tin of matcha from Ippodo, having just finished off the last one. It was very good, this one is even higher grade. I love the packaging too, I will definitely be re-ordering from Ippodo. In the meantime I have matcha coming from Den's and Itoen. I want to try them all!

Boy, do I love matcha tins! And I can see all the reasons to love them in your series of photos. Just gorgeous! What do we do with the empty ones?
****edit****
BTW, do you think one could use a coconut husk for a chawan?

On that note, could you possibly make a gaiwan out of a coconut? Or maybe some kind of teapot...

Mmmm... coconut flavored matcha... *drool*
I love the tins too. The tin factors into my choice of matcha more significantly than I would like to admit. F/I, O-cha from all reports has some very fine matcha, but most of it comes in one of those tins with a plastic lid. Yuck. Haven't purchased it yet. Although I'm getting a little stockpile of nice matcha tins, so I can now buy matcha in ugly packages and transfer it. Ha!

Perhaps bamboo is growing on this island?

They're great for decanting smaller amounts of leaf tea for use at the workplace

Yeah on the O-Cha ... except the Manten - the nicest matcha tin out there IMHO.

It was very good, and for the price I would say it rates an excellent. 600yen for the 20g. I prefer to buy no more than 20-30g in a tin, for freshness.
This one is the Horai, even better. So smooth, like butter, the aroma on opening is like the most delectable french pastry you can imagine, with that kind of buttery, slightly sweet aroma. Wow!
I can't wait to try my next two: Den's and especially the Itoen. I'm trying to be very disciplined though, and only have one tin open at a time. Ha!

Auggy, maybe you could expense background checks along with pepper spray. Your pastor should be ashamed of himself for putting you in that kind of position. Not a very good shepherd, I would say.
I voted for black tea on the desert island, although that might not do me any good without matches, knives, etc., which I'm sure I wouldn't have with me when I shipwrecked.
