Ceylon Wewesse in my cup! Sencha up next.
Sorry if I ruffled feathers. Shelob is right, enjoyment for all is the goal ... and I think Taitea was poking fun at us, not making a serious statement.

hehehe
In my cup this afternoon more of that lovely Nilgiri that sparked all the interest,

I'm with taitea...dump the monikers. Thumbs up with tea snobbery!
Pounded down a gallon of white tea today...literally.

Actually, its great that this was a TeaDay topic. The best reason to open this up for group discussion is so we can see things through the perspectives of others. These perspectives can be very enlightening. Until today, it never occurred to me that the monikers or the "team" aspect could be off-putting to anyone, be they seasoned oldbies or newly hatched. The truth is, most of us play for more than one tea-m here, and the diversity is one of the main things that kept me coming back to TeaChat from day 1.
After reading the comments and looking at how closely split the voting is... I think if I had the chance, I'd probably change my vote to "no monikers". However, I won't be so likely to have regrets about my vote on Tuesday.

Sal, still lusting after that cup.
I am good to go either way for the monkiers, uh monikers. As long as
treazure's "We have cookies" avatar stays!
Orange blossom oolong so far today. I will be having new teas later this month, though. I am getting ready for a new tea order - out of 41 teas I want, only 3 are re-orders so I know I'll be trying new ones!
And in non-tea related news, I just wanted to share - DH & I got our Christmas present today - a 52" tv. It's GORGEOUS! Now we just need our new entertainment center to come in. Currently we are using our coffee table.

Again, I appreciate the comments, which I knew I would. Why else would I ask?
While the monikers will likely disappear from the front page of the forum, I hope we can all keep in mind that within the forums, in banter, that they are truly meant in fun and are not ever intended to be cliquish. I would be the first to cry foul if I saw that it was cliquish. I think most of us have been a victim a cliques at some point in our lives. Been there and done that!
At the end of the day, it is just a bunch of adults enjoying tea and sharing a laugh or two in our virtual TeaRoom. There is nothing wrong with this IMHO. We do it as FRIENDS, and many of us jump ship frequently.
But I do believe it is good to air out this topic so we can understand it and each other better, gain new perspectives and sensitivities.

Wonder how Chip could to a TeaPoll on this, like "I'm a republican and I like black tea," "I'm a democrat and I like green tea," and so on?

Nahhh, politics is too volatile for such a group of friends... Chip will whack me in the head with an unloved kyusu for mentioning the election.

Sal, love the colors in your photo today.
I'm ambivalent toward the monikers. For me, it's just cutesy forum banter (but I can definitely understand it not being so for others), and I don't think of myself as belonging to any 'side.' I drink tea, all kinds, though mostly oolong or black, and I like the company of other tea-people.
No amount of strong black tea can make me less sleepy today, it seems. And oh, how I have tried. I was informed that I had to be awake at 6:30am at 2am--a minor oversight on the part of my boyfriend, who was, on the other hand, aware of this the entire time, and was spritely all day today without caffeine!

I say let the monikers stay. They're just some harmless fun.
As for new teas I hope to try, I'd like to try and get into the world of black teas, since I've sort of been avoiding them. I ought to see what all the commotion's about, eh?

I love all my kyusu, so don't worry, no kyusu will be injured in the making of TeaPolls. However, I do have a tetsubin or two that I am not using.
Maybe the Tuesday poll will be who did you vote for.

That presumes many things. Everyone is either a democrat or a republican. That everyone will have voted for someone. I'd also have to disagree about friends not being able to talk politics.
