Re: the bonus topic -- no, I've never simultaneously tasted several selections of the same tea. I've made several the same day, but never side by side. I've just never had a reason to do so.

I'm dragging today, augh... making very little progress on my work because I'd rather be napping. Definitely time for more tea.

Geez we are so in sync. I just wish it was 3 hours later here.

In my cup this afternoon: Iron Goddess King

I've never really tried any Alishan...at least not to my knowledge.

So I just went ahead and voted for Adagio. The teas I've received from Adagio have been great, so I'm sure that the Alishan is a fair competitor in the world of other Alishans. :D

I've also never tried any simultaneous tea tastings, though I probably should...I have some different oolongs that I would love to compare.

Right now I'm drink the remnants of a second White Grapefruit infusion. Just as flavourful as the first! I'm going to pour myself some Ti Kuan Yin in a moment, I think.
I believe drinking tea makes me a better artist. But hey, I also believe I'm completely sane.

Though I have never tried an Ali Shan Oolong, I will go with Adagio because their teas have always been good and they are nice enough to support this tea tasting venture.

As for side by side tea tastings, the closest I have done was comparing the vanilla honeybush to the vanilla rooibos to see the differences in taste.

In my cup: Glendale Estate Handmade Nilgiri. I am thoroughly impressed that the Handmade can get four good steeps. Not only does it taste great, but it lasts awhile too. After dinner, Earl Grey White Tip for dessert.

I voted the Teahome Golden Lily (8)... sounds similar to a milk oolong which I've wanted to try... and sounds interesting and unique. I already have Adagio's Ali Shan, which is really delicious, and I am looking forward to the opportunity to compare it with others.

In my cup tonight was my first Nilgiri, Nilgiri Thiashola SFTGFOP1 Organic from SpecialTeas. The jury is still out... my first brew is just "ok" to me... but I am going to play with my parameters a bit. It's a nice basic black tea, very smooth and nice, but not wowing me at all yet.

This morning, I woke up craving roasted green oolong... and there was none to be found in my cabinet. Some people wake up in the morning and get out a skillet to make bacon and eggs... but not me. I get my skillet out and quick-roast some Teavana Six Summits Oolong... decent before the roast, deeeelicious after the roast. Mmmmm I have s'more in there I didn't brew yet, and I think I need it now.

Happy Tea Day, all.

Sarah

I have concerns of the darker roasted ones even being allowed to be entered.
It's not really fair to compare a a darker roast to the lighter roast of the top 3. It no longer becomes a comparison of the tea, but rather a preferred taste by method of roasting. I'd like to see TeaHome Mountain Dark (9) eliminated. Just my two cents, but hey this isn't rocket science.

Chip, thanx for posting in thursday's topic, that we should vote even if we never have tried Alishan. Those links are helpful!
I have only tried Adagio's & did like it, I am anxious to try others.

I have never done side by side testings, so I am excited abt the possibility of participating. It is great to know that the tasting sets will be available to all of us, thru Adagio 8)

The 6 have been selected. Looks like a good group. Next we will be attempting to work with the individual vendors. This could be a very interesting aspect of the tastings. I imagine some will want to be more "cooperative" than others. Wish us luck!
