I drink mostly black tea with food. Frequently it's iced, but I have a strange fondness for something that is totally going to gross out Chip  -- lapsang with spinach quiche. For some reason they go together well.

I also like shu per-erh with chocolate. And Wuyi oolongs with chocolate. If I was a green tea fan I'd no doubt drink it with chocolate, too, although it strikes me that greens would be a bit light in flavor compared to the edibles.

Victoria: at the moment I'm drinking some of the Da Ye from TeaCuppa, courtesy of Salsero. I like it a lot. (Thanks again Sal!) I have some coming to me from TeaCuppa, and I suspect I'll be enjoying it for a while... Thanks for the tip.

I had to vote green tea with food because as I type this I'm taking my work break at a coffee shop with a cup of dragonwell, lemon poppyseed bread, and my netbook.
Life is like a cup of tea, savor it slowly or it will be gone too fast

I often have a black tea with a touch of milk with my meals. I find that black is a wonderful companion with just about anything as the flavour usually holds its own in a meal. If I'm having something spicy or something I'm not sure will agree with me, then I have a cup or two of lemongrass, peppermint and ginger to help the food settle.

In my cup is the last few millilitres of some white peach. My tin is almost empty, so I think I might have to buy some more pretty soon! I'm thinking of reaching for some black hazelnut or vanilla to go with my supper...I'm not sure which one I want yet...
I believe drinking tea makes me a better artist. But hey, I also believe I'm completely sane.

Caligatia has been banned for "totally grossing out" a moderator

Next tea is Sencha Premier, 4th steep is in my cup and I am eating a PB&J sandwich, but I don't go back and forth. Bleh. Just eating the sandwich, then I will resume drinking. SOOO, I voted green with food. Might save the SLT for later and throw in some Mugi/genmai for good measure.

Yeah, we're going to put a secret webcam in your kitchen and watch you sneaking cups of lapsang when you think no one's looking....

Green goes with anything!
A nice strong black tea or oolong always goes well with dessert :D

Today started with shincha, then to genmaimatcha and finally to a nice mini pot of keemun.
Maybe some ginger tea tonight with lemon, honey, and a dash of CAYANNE!

Happy tea day everyone!

It's because, in addition to being an outstanding photographer, you're quite the player too . . .

Chili is in my bowl, listening to Asia's "Only Time will Tell". Having a flashback.

I voted "Other" because it just depends on what I'm eating for lunch and what kind of nasty mood i'm in. It's too cold to eat my lunch outside anymore, easier to make tea with lunch inside.

Some days I wonder what tea would go best with my meal much like wine though I've had a very shaky guide handed to me and not that many useful experiences outside of greens and oolongs go well with coarse, simple, or light meals. Aside from that I tend to drink green more often as my daily teas so it's the one most often taken with food so it compliments my diet well enough. I just wish I had a spice tea or the like that would join my deeper, heartier meals like all the stews we tend to eat about here.

In the cups today: Spice Green, yet another Adagio sampler and a bland, unexciting green mixture, and two standbys: my Quince green and my Grandmother's preferred gunpowder. I feel nostalgic all of a sudden.

Boy, the Urban Dictionary has a lot of definitions of that word! I guess most of them deserve the femme fatale character in the Noir literature.

tea + food

by jim109 » Nov 17th, '08, 19:32

I voted no for today, but then remembered that on weekends I like green tea with simple white bread toast with butter. Jim

I meant the "ladies man", def. All that spicy spanish musical stuff in the background of your photos . . . chicks dig that kind of crap.

I drink tea indiscriminately with food, though it's mostly heavier stuff like roasty oolongs, blacks, hojicha, or genmaicha. And just now I realized that my little list there is most of what I drink anyway. Basically, if I drink it, I've had it with food.

Pretty typical day for me tea-wise: Keemun Rhapsody from Adagio at breakfast, Wuyi Amber from Red Blossom (very cheap, but I like it) around lunch, some Assam whose label I lost, and a bit of Genmaicha Satsuki from Den's. Trying to decide if I want a black or some pouchong next.

Definitely have tea with food--black hot tea with breakfast, black iced tea with lunch/dinner.
Although my neighbors are all barbarians,
And you, you are a thousand miles away,
There are always two cups on my table.
