I would love to get one for myself, will have to do some comparison shopping though. I was at Ito en's flagship store yesterday and the few true tetsubin they had were exorbitant. I think the cheapest was around $800. sure were pretty though. :)
Hi, Chingwa that's great!!! Could you forward the catalog and/or prices?

:P

Artistic Nippon has 3 Banko teapots, one for $250-, and 2 for $90-.

Unfortunately the one I would buy is sold.

Shogun, can you introduce me to your grandmother :)

Wow! That site has the most stunning kyuusu I have ever seen and unbelievable yixing pots as well! I don't see any prices listed anywhere ... bad sign! I suspect it's "if you have to ask, you can't afford it."
Yeah some of their stuff is stunning especially those pots, I think whatever products is still left is noted as "available" in red. Their advice on drying the tetsubin is foolproof also, just bring water to boil from whatever is left after last session and pour this out, the remaining heat should evaporate the moisture discouraging rust. I was heating the kettle empty which I regret, a piece of iron flaked off the bottom already, the size of a raisin, sooner or later that'll become a hole.

It would be neat if it were special. You never know what treasures reside in the attic.

HOJO's current pricelist for Tetsubin can be viewed/downloaded here.

I didn't get a price list for any of their other products unfortunately, but you can email them directly. Akira Hojo has been pretty helpful in regards to my inquiries.

I just ordered a small Kunzan 1.2L version... It's being cast this week and should ship out early next week :D not bad turnaround and service. EMS shipping was around 5,400 JPY. not cheap, but I anticipate this to be a great little kettle... something for a lifetime of use.

Thank you so much for this link. This answered quite a few questions that I've had regarding tetsubin.

I am glad someone found the information helpful, I did. Their recommendation regarding drying the kettle is great also, it can prevent overheating and cracking of one's tetsubin.

Many times have I left tetsubin unattended whilst heating it to evaporate the moisture, this may caused two pieces of iron on the interior bottom to come off. :x
