Oh my treazure, where's that cup from?

Definite yes for me, i've already got a few of them sitting in my office. I'm thinking of sending a matcha set to one of my friends as well.

Definitely, yes. Most of my friends and family don't drink tea, so I encourage (read: enable) those who like it even a little!

I'm feeling in need of a little comfort today, so it'll be Wuyi Amber and a book soon.

Of course people are getting tea! My father loves Earl Grey, so I got him a few more samples of ones that he hasn't tried yet. My fiance's sister likes tea, but hasn't gotten beyond bagged tea so we got her a few sample tins of various types and an infuser basket. I will also probably take my best friend to a local tea shop over Christmas since it is a nice place to relax and chat.

Today, I have some sencha.

I am certainly planning of Tea(ware)Gifting this holiday. :D

Adagio Sencha Premier to start the day. Sweetie inbibed, Wulong perched shoulder top, Ceylon made an appearence, TEAh peaked in.

Just finishing a 5th steep of aged gyokuro (kuradashi) from Olivier, remerciements! I am doing some mini steeps, 2 ounces and a 2 to 1 leaf to water ratio. Very luxurious.

I have already sent a selection of decaf tea, loose and bagged, to my friend in Canada, and will be sending some Yunnan Gold to a friend in England.

I bought myself a charming little blue teapot the other day, and bought two of those combined pot-and-cups for two young members of the family, whom I've already hooked on tea. Mwahahahahaha.
Although my neighbors are all barbarians,
And you, you are a thousand miles away,
There are always two cups on my table.

Kame-giru shi gyokuro in a few minutes to end the day.

I might drink it from my Bart Simpson mug to see whether the taste will be affected by not drinking this top gyokuro from japanese gyokuro thin porcelain teacups.

The cupcake cup is sold online at Bigelow teas
http://www.bigelowtea.com/cupcake-mug-w ... -63072.htm

The gorgeous gold teacup and saucer are Royal Sealy. I haven't been able to find the name of the series yet. I was going to snipe an auction on eBay and company dropped by about the time the auction was ending. There was a green one as well. So far the only thing I can go on is the description "Royal Sealy three-toed art deco."

One great thing is that Royal Sealy goes for a decent price so if you haven't become addicted to collecting teaware to go with your tea, the prices aren't prohibitively high. Also good is that, (so far), it isn't being copied to be resold as the real deal when it isn't.

I think the Royal Sealy was probably marketed as a cabinet piece since I can't imagine how you would drink from those cups without dribbling it down your clothes.

Teaware, must have more teaware. *dribbling drool down my bib.*

PS: I missed an auction of a novelty pot called ToasterTea. It went for $9 and should have gone for $50 up because it sells in Great Britain, new, for 49 pounds. ARGH! But I promised the husband person that I'd only buy tea this week, no teaware. The cruelty of it all!

Interesting! The leaves almost look like zhu ye qing (bamboo leaf green tea) but the name doesn't relate at all. Like Trey said, it maybe a yellow tea and it does somewhat look like Jun Shan silver needle. But again the name doesn't relate. I heard now Jun Shan also use green tea processing method to make Jun Shan silver needle, which originally is a yellow tea. But I've never had it.

I also found in my tea book another tea named Gui Lin silver needle that somewhat matches the shape of dry and spent leaves. But it's not a famous tea and I can't imagine it's sold in US.

So I guess, some green tea kind of silver needle :D
I am guessing the same right now. The name and appearance are similar to Adagio's new Emerald Needle.

Yeah, looks a lot like green silver needle I had from TeaSpring. It was a very light tea, unlike Zhu Ye Qing which had some power.

gifts

by jim109 » Dec 5th, '08, 19:34

My wife wanted a gift for her boss as he "loves tea" (bagged). We ordered the starter kit with black tea samples, hope he gets the T-virus. Other than that....no gifts.
Yunnan gold this AM, I have tried quite a few, Adagio's is still my favorite!!

You might be about to find it on http://www.replacements.com. They have lots and lots of china patterns so maybe they have that one and you can find out the name.

Well I actually did it.
After reading some definitive "advices" about mandatory choice of cup for drinking gyokuro by a grumpy teachatter, I felt I had to try it.
The taste was actually as good as usual (perhaps because of the "Cool man" mention written on my mug).
As I haven't been struck by lightning since then and considering the fact that the good taste police squad hasn't arrested me for Tearrorism charges, I think I am able to conclude that cup design isn't crucial for gyokuro taste.
