A Jasmine green from Upton's this afternoon. That'll do me in until I get back into work tonight. I think this was the first jasmine I've tried in a green form instead of an oolong. Nice and a bit different from the traditional oolong...

So far, no bad tea. Some I like less, but overall, almost no bad tea.
I did recently get a box of 2006 long jing from a relative. It's totally waste now. I have been wondering what I can do with it, like seasoning new teapots (I don't have that many new nice yixing to season
), washing face with tea water (never tried it, heard of some *beauty* effects of it
), or cooking with it?

Oh! Good to know! I didn't know anything about it!omegapd wrote:Oh by the way, did anyone know that today was International Tea Day? December 15th. Do a Google Search. It must not be very popular, though. Maybe the workers took a day off at least.

Ah, but every day is TeaDay on TeaChat.omegapd wrote:Oh by the way, did anyone know that today was International Tea Day? December 15th. Do a Google Search. It must not be very popular, though. Maybe the workers took a day off at least.
I have no horror stories to report, except the slightly too old sencha I got at a local café. So I either have excellent judgment, or I'm not being adventurous enough. I wonder which one it is?
Since there is some discussion of colds and the flu, I have observed that since I started drinking tea in earnest a couple of years ago I haven't had a single cold. I choose to believe that there's a connection.
In my cup this afternoon - Nilgiri Kairbetta
Quite unremarkable.

I pulled out the gaiwan and tried something new this morning: Spring 2008 Ding Hu Shan from Red Blossom. It was a free sample, otherwise I probably never would have tried it. Very vegetal flavor with a pleasantly floral aroma, only a tinge of bitterness after I overbrewed it a little on the second steep. After 5 steeps in a 4oz gaiwan, I was done even if the tea wasn't. Definitely not my thing!

How funny... I just drank my sample of this one today... from one of you Nilgiri folk. It was too bitter after only a less than 2-minute infusion... added some cream and sugar which I never do anymore, and it still wasn't very satisfying, so I ended up discarding it.geeber1 wrote:V, is that the sample I sent you? But when I think of "worst" teas this year, I have to go with anything rooibos, which disgusts me. A close 2nd are some flavored black teas I got from a kitchen store called Kitchen Affairs or Kitchen Accent or something of that nature. I got some black currant and some jasmine that were absolutely vile. Rooibos gets my vote, though. I just can't tolerate it.
In my cup now, SpecialTeas Formosa Pouchong Special... very buttery/honey/floral/smooth/yummy.
Happy International Tea Day.

Honestly, I have found my fave Nilgiri, Tao of Tea and TeaSource. I am sticking with those good ones, and officially stopping now. Very officially stopping!!!!
Thanks! It's just for Christmas ... I think.geeber1 wrote:Victoria, love your new avatar!
