Ippodo is selling right now its Shin Shun Wakamatsu-no-mukashi, special new year matcha. I might order some after the holidays.GeekgirlUnveiled wrote:
the only problem is I'm down to the last of the tin, and still haven't placed my Ippodo order. I need to do that right now!
Different from our regular Wakamatsu-no-mukashi, this limited-supply Shin Shun Wakamatsu-no-mukashi offers an even richer taste and a sweet aroma that completely permeates the room. Highly recommended for people who take part in the traditional New Year's Hatsugama tea ceremony, or for anyone who appreciates the full-bodied richness of an extra-premium matcha. This tea is an excellent choice as a koicha (thicker serving of matcha).
Available December 20th to January 31st, while supplies last.
Dang if only I knew, you coulda piggybacked some on my order to save horrendous shipping. I dropped a huge one last night. I may be able to adjust it if you know what you want. I'll contact them to seeGeekgirlUnveiled wrote: the only problem is I'm down to the last of the tin, and still haven't placed my Ippodo order. I need to do that right now!

I am curious about the taste of uni-shimizu.
I don't really have a particular motif for my tea ware. I have a blue pot, a swirly pot, a green cup, a set of peacock cups, a cup with faeries on it, and some rice porcelain. I would love to get a set of tea ware with dragonflies on it though. I absolutely love dragonflies. There are a couple of pieces of dragonfly tea ware that I have my eye one, like a few of the tokoname kyusus, but I haven't actually purchased any yet.
Today I tried a TKY from the box pass. I wasn't really impressed with it. It was toasted to a point where it reminded me of a shui xian.

Heh the ones you've had are the ones i'm most interested in trying out. Uni-shimizu = uji-shimizu btw. typo.olivierco wrote:

I also asked them if they could toss in a can of the new years matcha as well.
I'm pretty sure the uji-shimizu is going to be really bad tasting. At 300 Y / 150g, i'm not expecting something good. It may make for an nice matcha latte though.
