Ok, I will buck the general trend here today. There is no doubt that the spirit of moderately consumed alcoholic beverages will enhance my evening.

Sencha Zuiko has already enhanced my morning. Matcha coming up next. After that, who knows, I'm living on the edge man!

Happy New year to all.

I had some huang shan mao feng yesterday evening that I bought from TeaSpring. This is the first time that I have tried this tea. The well crafted leaves are amazing! I enjoyed the subtle flavour and hint of smokiness. I brewed in a gaiwan but didn't put in enough leaf. I will experiment with more leaf and longer steeps next time.

I just went from "probably tea" to "definitely tea" as I realized that I have no wine in the house. As Cinnamon Kitty noted, upstate NY is not real pleasant right now, so I'm considering myself snowed in. I'm enjoying a good book, quality time with my cat, and 2003 Dayi Yiwu Arbor.

Just barely tolerating an uninspiring Darjeeling: Sungma SFTGFOP1, 2nd Flush. Third infusion.

We decided the same thing and ended up staying home today, so there is a definitely improvement on the tea outlook for today. I'll second you with the quality cat time. I have one on my lap and the other on my chair back.

I need to go to bed early tonight so I can catch an early flight to Boston tomorrow. No par-tay for me. Maybe a bit of ginger tea before bed?

Matcha covered sencha right now. Good stuff :D

It's New Year's Eve and all through the house the world is busy and I am a louse. Enough parodies of holiday lyrics. If there were an Other/Both option I'd mark it as I am likely to enjoy both tea early on this day or with my evening meal as well as have some wine/like light alcohol beverage around the midnight hour as tradition. Additionally it is my mother's birthday so that ups the ante to do with some traditions such as mild drinking or the like. Ah, holidays.

In my cup: I forgot what I blended in it aside from a lot of dark stuff and cinnamon but it doesn't taste any better after adding some balancing agents. I'm not the best custom blender at the moment.

In Scotland, as it's Hogmanay and it's decidedly cold and wintry here in Edinburgh, it would rude not to have a little single malt whisky this evening.

So, that's what I will be having. :D

Have a great New Year everyone when it arrives where you are.

Tea during the day here and likely wine this evening. We have a ridiculous number of open bottles of wine from all our visitors over the past week and I would hate to end up with bottles of vinegar. I'll have to make a sacrifice to help the cause.

I tried one of the Teaposy display teas today - Noble Essence - silver needle with magnolia. It was actually quite good (which I'm finding is unusual for display teas.) About to make some 1st flush Darjeeling.

Nice bowl, Brandon, and I just had gifted Ippodo Matcha, coincidentally. Sweetie mooched some.

Thinking of a sencha...............

Happy Hogmanay to all the Scots out there!
