I try to help when it occurs to me, but mostly I just lurk and learn.
Feeling a bit under the weather today, like I'm about to come down with the flu. On the bright side, I just got an order of black teas--mainly Assams--today. Maybe some sampling will cheer me up.
Auggy, hope your cat gets well soon. That's awful!

Did you get yours from MarshalN too? He was selling off extras he got with set a few months back and this is one that I signed up for.Drax wrote: I have a very similar chataku

Yes! I guess it's of the same lot. That must have been one of the 2oz Bodum glasses, then? I usually use the 9oz for drinking, and it's nearly as wide as the chataku (so no "ring" effect like in your picture).Salsero wrote:Did you get yours from MarshalN too? Don't get me wrong, I do love cute shoes, but sadly (or thankfully?) they aren't enough to make or break a day. But a girl's gotta have more than just tea as a vice!Pentox wrote:Awh I hope kitty gets better soon. Lol when I read that I was like, wait realllyyy? Then I read the last part.

Beidao, I haven't really mentioned it much since it happened on Friday and I wasn't really on TC this weekend or Monday. But Friday we had to take kitty to the vet (pooping blood). They suspect colitis so she's got special food and some meds to try and straighten her out. Aside from the whole blood in the stool thing, though, she's acting just like normal. Well, a little grumpier since she's being segregated due to the special food thing. Thanks for the kitty well-wish leiche and Cinnamon. I am looking forward to hopefully have a healthy kitty soon.
Oh yeah - I bet Sal would look awesome in some 3 inch heels!Pentox wrote:Just get whatever Auggy is wearin'. If it's cute to her it should be just as good on you Sal.Salsero wrote:I need to get me some of those.auggy wrote: I'm wearing cute shoes today so it can't be all bad, right?

I still consider myself kind of a newbie, but every now and then a question will come up about which I might know something and I usually chime in. Like toastedtoads, I'm sort of a tea generalist and don't have any special areas of expertise.
Thinking about giving back makes me think of the many teachatters who give so much. I'm tempted to name names, but I would inevitably forget someone. You know who you are. I think that I speak for all the newbies here when I express profound gratitude for all the great help and advise that has been provided to us. Y'all rock!
I just finished a second steep of Adagio's Sencha Overture. I ordered a sample recently to try it out and I've really enjoyed it.

I have also always felt strongly about this issue, but shoes are not what first comes to mind.auggy wrote: But a girl's gotta have more than just tea as a vice!

We will never know how awesome I might look in them, as I am afraid of heights. I guess I will just have to stick with tea to pep up my day.auggy wrote: I bet Sal would look awesome in some 3 inch heels!
I'm not sure what the question means. Like another, I drink black teas and the whole hong kong fooie, bibbity bobbiety do tea scene so the extent of my tea advice is to find what you like; if you want to explore, fine and dandy, just do what makes you happy.
Jeanne - I never met a tea pot I didn't like.
Ok, I feel I really must say that I have not checked or verified, but from my memory - in the year that I have been here, most of the newbies that are asking for help and direction are drinking black teas. And the brewing vessel of choice is commonly the IngenuiTEA.

I'd be glad to "give back," but I doubt I have much to contribute. I rely on my old Brown Betty teapot and a variety of odd and end mugs, and I don't drink anything exotic. White teas are about as far as I go; mostly I drink black teas, usually with flavors added, like mints and peaches.
I've tried other types, but I always come back to the flavored black teas and white teas.
At work, I'm considered a tea connoisseur, but that's only because most of my coworkers drink Lipton, Luzianne, or Salada, and they don't have the electric kettle-teapot-demarara sugar set-up in their offices as I do. Anywhere else, I'm pretty low on the tea totem pole!

I found teachat after I had already started drinking looseleaf but realized I had so much to learn....now that I have gained a fair bit of experience and certainly a huge amount of knowledge I try to offer my opinion, when I feel it is valid, my advice when I feel it is warranted and my questions when I continually realize there is so much more to learn.
*Today I have been enjoying the cold brew sencha I made last night...I made about 2 liters of it....brewed it in a big glass bottle rather than the kyusu packed with ice method.....
*Pic today is of my favorite Kyusu--the hagi yaki with matching yunomi...I also have some karigane (kukicha) in a small dish I picked up from a local Asian market....everything is visible through my personal bamboo forest!
*Im no Sal....but it sure is fun to take pictures of tea/teaware and get interesting angles and pics!
