Here I always thought TeaMom meant an attractive lady that drank tea...
You kids and your darn rock music.

Hmm that's not a bad idea... having just moved, my expensive teaware is still in NY. I was going to buy another french press, but the pyrex sounds good for now, I can just cover it somehow. Got a bunch of my good loose leaf blacks and greens, timer, and strainer via fedex ground today, thank the lord... i'd been surviving on Tazo teabags for a couple weeks ;/GeekgirlUnveiled wrote: It really is disgraceful. (As a sidenote, I made my tea this morning in a pyrex measuring cup, steeped it too long and drank it coldish. It was still tea.)

This has been a hot topic today. I want to clarify a few things.
My original intent of bringing this up was a sort of call to action, not for more moderation, which I think several of you have understood or came to this conclusion by yourselves.
If we let the half dozen or so members like Oni be the only or dominant voices heard by new members and beginners, than the forum will suffer. Mary and others have already done an excellent job of pointing out we can easily and politely deter this from happening. That's all I am asking for.
Singling out the pu forum wasn't entirely fair, and perhaps simply labeling it as gong fu enthusiasts or not at all would be better. I think Bill is a wonderful example of a dude who knows is pu, is passionate about it, but feels no need to be a dick. However, I have always had the impression from forums and blogs and what not that puerh (or gong fu) enthusiasts had a tendency to be particularly snobbish. I don't know if it is simply subtleties of the culture that I don't understand, but there is an intensity there that I find off putting.
So when the pu forum started growing and at the same time it seemed to be attracting assholes that were spilling over onto the other forums, I naturally, at least from my perspective, put the two together.
Tea Day
Like Chip, I don't think I have ever understood why so many of us ITDer's have a problem with it. Its not my thing per se, but it has never bothered me, and it seems clear to me that many of the members here enjoy it on a daily basis.
It is true that I never bother with the search feature or with RSS feeds, so I do not have the same perspective as Brent and some of the others. I think what they are saying is valid, and if there is some way to isolate Tea Day, it seems like a good compromise. Other wise, do any of us have the right to declare a particular section annoying or pointless and have it done a way with?

I kinda like Teaday. I've chatted with folk that really don't chat much outside of it, and there are some good people there. That and I can always count on awesome photos from our resident shutterbugs.
Now those green tea nerds, they just don't know when to quit. Black tea forever. *top hat and monocle*

Even you hate me now too, Salsero?
I'll admit I might be a bit loud for this forum. I'm not a Brown Betty guy. I brew insanely green tea in a vessel that looks like a bong. I also brew beer. If this forum isn't down with that then I don't want to be here. I'm a tea snob and a beer snob but I never want to be so pretentious that I can't converse with colorful people who don't fit my cookie cutter.
