Opening a new bag of tea yesterday and looking upon the leaves for the first time, I wondered, do you ever find satisfaction in looking at your dry tea leaves before they are forever changed by the addition of hot water?

Definitely YES, everytime I prepare tea

Great idea ... thanks. Don't tell anyone though  :!:

After having part of my grad school application sent back to me by the postal service i needed something to calm me down, so i had a bit of Jasmine #12. I like to watch the balls of leaf unfurl as they brew :3

now to wait and see what the university can help me with to get the rest of my packet there D: since it's due tomorrow (who has things due on a Sunday D:<?!)

In my cup this afternoon - From Jing Tea Shop -

One of the three oolongs offered in the
Anxi Guan Yin Tasting Set - Unblended organic Jin Guan Yin

Very floral, perfect body and sweetness, really a beautiful oolong.

I always take a moment to admire the leaves, especially if they're particularly beautiful ones.

Lots of stuff already today: tried the first 2 of my samples from The Simple Leaf. Just tried White Peony and liked it. Not quite as good as Silver Needle, but a decent cheap substitute.

Yes, looking at the leaves before and after is part of the fun!

Started the morning with a pot of Thai blend and my homemade whole grain cinnamon raisin biscotti.

Right now I am sipping Yame gyokuro from o-cha.

Have a great tea weekend,
Dreamer

I enjoy looking at the leaves. It is always fun to see the differences between the leaves in all the various teas. I especially watching how they transform and unfurl when you add the water.

Currently in my cup is Adagio's Jasmine #12. It is my first time trying a decent jasmine pearl tea. I am not quite sure if I like it or not, but at least it is better than the first time I tried a jasmine tea.

After trying 7 infusions of the White Dragon ripe pu-erh, I've decided to shift gears to Adagio's Keemun Rhapsody. I tend to brew my blacks like my pu-erh. I suppose at some point I should try steeping them longer. Maybe I'll try that tomorrow morning to see how this one changes.

I'm just hoping this doesn't keep me up. . .

Occasionally.

If it's a tea I'm not familiar with, sure I'll look it over carefully before and after washing and steeping.

If It's a tea I know well, it's pointless navel-gazing.

Magnolia Oolong about to be in my cup.

This tea is pretty before and after. :) Not much "leaf" to see though...

See that (matcha?) bowl and glass plate? Lovely color, textural and shape juxtaposition.

Now that is an image worthy of study!

Or, another way of looking at it, all we can see is leaf. It's just that the leaves in question have been rendered rather small. Fannings with attitude :)

Geek, great to see your photo gracing the pages of TeaDay :!: (are those Clementine segments, a fave of mine)

My order from Hankook arrived around 8PM tonight, hand delivered by the depot manager. Long story, I almost had to wait til Tuesday since FE does not deliver residential on Mondays. The driver posted on the tracking that the weather prevented him from delivering the package, riiiight. Sunny and no precip here for days. I just do not get FE sometimes.

So, I got a bunch a Korean greens, oolong (yellow) and herbal samples as well. And some teaware. I will have to quickly learn how to brew Korean teas, woohoo. Hope to crack one open tomorrow!

Tenho Fukamushi this evening from TJGTS. This was my best attempt with this one so far.
