Friday TeaDay 2/06/09 Last day without tea?

BYOT! Enter TeaChat here, you never know what you may find!

Today's TeaPoll and discussion topic. About a year ago, Olivierco asked, "when was the last time you did not have a tea for an entire day?" Seems like a good question to ask again.

Fun poll question! I put less than 6 months...but I really don't know.
I do try to have some tea every day...if I know I won't be in any
situation where I can make some during the day (travel or all day
meeting situations), I fill a good travel mug with some and savor that.

This afternoon I made my current favorite Japanese green, Kabusecha.
I left for work this morning looking forward to green tea this afternoon.
Lots of stress in my mind this week (medical issues for some friends, etc)
and green tea is so soothing to my mind...I am planning on enjoying a
nice bowl of matcha in the sunshine as soon as the Kabusecha is finished.

Peace,
Dreamer

Mmmm... I think I'll have some too!
Does anyone have a verdict yet on the Surugawase?

I'll have to ask the mailman, I think he drank mine.

I need to spend some more time with it since it is pretty different. It has defied description for me thus far. It is not going to please everyone, especially right away. I am glad to have the opp to try it. I would not recommend it for beginners to Japanese teas.

Currently from O-Cha as well, a no brainer for me, Chiran (Yutaka Midori) Supreme, this one on the other hand was love at first taste (but not as good as its pappa, Yutaka Midori "classic").
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

Sal, it is a duan ni pot, but it is mixed with something else (supposedly more duan ni).
It wood fired at low temperature which accounts for the variation in color.

Ooo, is that one of those cool pots from TeaMasters? Terre et feu. I loved looking at them! Did you get any of the cups? We must have more pix of that sweetheart!

Hm no Sal, it is a Yixing. I got it from our kind friend Nada. Here are a few more teasers.

Wow, it might be still more beautiful than the TeaMasters one! I just love the appearance of the surface and the shape is noble and unique ... I want to touch it! Is it rough to the touch?

I need one of those pots!!!!!!

(Deep breaths, I am taking deep breaths ... thinking calm thoughts ... OOOOOOOOOMMMMM)

Salsero, you need another teapot as much as you need a poke in the eye with a sharp stick! This must be the only teapot on the internet Salsero doesn't have.

It is cool, but for a minute it looked like it was sitting in a bedpan.

Sometimes when I go out of town for a weekend I do not drink tea. Or maybe I order the bagged stuff at a restaurant.

It isn't rough, feels pretty much like any other duanni. Contact Nada and perhaps he can find you another from the same place. Chester, a big time Yixing collector in NYC, called it "trendy".

The cups came today from Hou De, by Taiwan artist Xu De Jia. I also picked out some similar size/shape cups by another artist in the classic sky blue, but I thought it would be nice to have different colors so guests could easily recognize their cup. Ah yes, I am starting to interest other people in this fancy tea stuff.

I feel the pain of deprivation when you point this out!

I don't really remember the last day that I didn't have tea. Days without tea are generally not too great and not memorable. I am guessing there was probably a day within the past six months when it was too hot to drink hot tea and I had forgotten to make more iced tea.

Today, I am drinking White Tip Oolong from the New Mexico Tea Co. It is not as good as I remembered it being, but it is still tasty.

I went a whole month almost without tea in September, as I was fasting. It was actually easier than I thought it would be, but I wouldn't want to do it for any other reason.

I voted less than 5 years. Last July I came close: A day of driving started early and I'd forgotten to prep tea the night before. When I finally got home 16 hours later, I HAD to make a cup.

Today's teas: Black Current first tea this A.M.. Then I had some friends over for lunch: Mango tea on ice with the meal, then a pot of Pumpkin Spice and another of Mint herbal (for the non-caffeine gals).
The leftover mint with a few drops of stevia is great over ice.
"Top off the tea... it lubricates the grey matter."
