I usually aim for 5 minutes or less for most of my teas, though because most of my tea is enjoyed at work, I often get distracted and they're left to sit a bit longer. If they're black teas, then I let them sit for for as long as 15 minutes before I pour them. I drink blacks with a bit of milk, and I like my tea strong.

I just finished up a cup of Adagio's Earl Grey Bravo, which I can't say I really enjoyed. Tasted like a bar of soap to me... But now I'm onto Adagio's Vanilla Green. Both are part of an order that I just received this morning. I have a selection of whites that I'll be enjoying later. :D

 I think some of you are overthinking the question just a bit. "Your most common first steep," so for me, it is likely a sencha or other Japanese green. I could have said less than 1 minute, but went with less than 2.

Started the day with Yabe Supreme from Yuuki-Cha. Lots of different nuances in it today. SweeTea certainly enjoyed it, while Pyrit was there for the treats.

Next up, Fukamushi Supreme from O-Cha which was certainly very good as usual.

Adagio Golden Monkey currently in my cup.

It's usually less than three minutes for me. Sometimes, distractions happen.

I'm about to kick off an afternoon of relaxation with cup of roasty Wuyi. I'm impatiently counting down the hours until I get to go home in the morning.

I voted 3 minutes or less because I drink more black tea on average than green or white.

I like 3 minute steeps on black teas because the chances of getting a bitter tea is less than if you go 4-5 and also because the second steeping is almost as strong as the first instead of having 1 strong steep and then a weak one.

Started the day with a monk's blend black tea. Monks blend is a little more "fruity" than I normally like but was quiet good today.

Sencha Premier from Adagio. A great TeaDay and the day is not over.

Too funny, Chip, that's exactly what I was thinking when I was reading the responses.

Actually, what I was really thinking was this:

Okay, to me, 'most common' means the 'mode' or which ones crops up the most. But everybody seems to be interpreting it as the 'mean.'

Now I understand why people get paid serious $$ to craft survey questions....

My most common steep time would probably be 2 minutes or less since I usually stick to sencha or oolongs.

That's a great photo Brandon. I love how the focus is on the leaves and cups in the center with everything else around them. It seems to say no matter what fancy teaware you use, it's still all about the leaves. Very nice. :)

Yutaka Midori right now.

Nice framing, Brandon. The soft colors are really nice too.
