Oni- The painted gaiwan in the back looks really nice. Any chance of seeing a close-up of it?
As you can tell, we are all quite fanatic about teaware here, you'll fit right in.

I haven't posted for a while, so here's some of the stuff I think I haven't shown yet.

1980's (left) and 1950's (right) yixing

1950's cup, (moss agate cup isn't a new purchase)
I love the shape of the 50's cup. It's height holds aroma just like a smelling cup would, and the flair on the lip nicely cools the tea before it touches your tongue. Also, the shape thrusts your nose right into the cup as you sip.

kyusu and yuzamashi from artistic nippon, somayaki cup was purchased by my grandparents in japan anywhere from 20-40 years ago.

I aways forget about Funalliance, and they have some really pretty stuff on their site. The painted gaiwans look really nice. How is the quality?

The fish gaiwan is 4 oz and a little bit thick, because it is ment for any kind of tea, the large painted one is very thin porcelain with lots of serious hand painting, it is also a large gaiwan mainly for green and scented teas single serving to yourself.

Thanks for the info. In that case it seems like a really good price for a nice gaiwan.

Finally!!!! I found my HEART cup and I have it in my possession at this very MOMENT!! This is one EXACTLY like my avatar and I am so jazzed! At about 1:00 AM this morning I stumbled upon it while surfing the net!!! I could not believe my luck! So I ordered and guess what? They called me this afternoon and say the are located near me and can drop it off!!! WOW! How's that for customer service?

It was a bit pricey because it's made by Arita and imported from Japan, but still I am so happy to own it. I will use it rarely - it's just one of those things I have had my heart set on to own. Yay!

Congrats! I've seen a couple of knock-offs, but clearly not the quality of the aritaware.
