Well, since Herb Master wasn't able to take pictures in his garden, here's a photo of my currant bush :D

Have a great tea-filled weekend, everyone!

You think you have troubles. My 12 1-oz samples of 1st Flush Darj
arrived today from Lochan Tea and I am in tea--shock.

My turn to quote. Do you get eatable currants from the bush?

Yes it is the one from Jing, and I see that it is sold out, but the Little Fisherman one is also nice. It holds only 50 ml, but you were thinking of getting a minuscule gaiwan anyway unless you were able to train your husband to drink tea with you. Those husbands, however, can be very difficult to train.
 That's exactly what I thought! I bought the little fisherman gaiwan today. I am actually more in need of smaller gaiwan!

From some teachat conversation, I have been convinced that rather than training husbands, probably it's easier to train cats into tea appreciation :D

I actually bought the bush for edible berries, but the moment I saw it bloom I knew something was off... After doing some research online I found out that on this side of the Atlantic currant bushes are often kept for decorative purposes (blooms and foliage in the fall). Oh, well, at least it's looking pretty right now :)

I did get "real" currant bushes (that produce berries), and will try to get a picture tomorrow (our Seattle weather permitting).

Funny, one of our cats drinks by dipping his paw in the water bowl and licking off his paw...he has been known to steal a taste of tea this way, which immediately necessitates the brewing of a new cup! The cat is more willing to try new tea than any other member of the family, so he is my best hope for a tea buddy at home!

Have fun,
Dreamer

I'm finishing off with a Jungpana FF and backing off on temp, time, and leaf to get a nice brew. These 1st flush Darjeelings are a steep learning curve for me.

Cats seem naturally drawn to tea, I have to jealousy guard it to keep my kitty out! I did let her try some Ying De Gold once but she knocked over the cup after she took a sip.

I think it was an accident though, she had her whole head stuck inside.
