Drank it twice. It wasn't really my thing. But I did find it usefull for cooking. I brewed up a strong batch and brined a turkey breast with it and other seasonings for the weber. It turned out delicious.
Iced oolong all day today.

I tried lapsang souchong once a couple of years ago, but hated both the taste and the smell. I'm pretty sure I took one sip and poured it down the drain. Haven't felt the need to try it again.
Soon to be in my cup: Organic Qi Zhong from Red Blossom. And maybe some chocolate Guinness cake to go with it.

Decided to live a little dangerously today after reading the Raku and the Chawan topics over the last few days. Broke out a 30 year old Raku recently acquired from Japan and shared matcha with Mrs. Chip. I took fake sips. Should anything happen to her, I hope Colombo is not on the case (and that he does not check out TeaChat) ...
The murder weapon...

The murder weapon...

I've tried it... got some from Adagio in a TeaSwap, and some Russian Caravan from Upton's a while back. Both were interesting, but not something I'd want very often. I used all my LS from Adagio in hard-boiled marbled eggs. They were pretty but the smoky taste wasn't as strong as I'd hoped.
Slow tea day today... up at 5am to get my dad to a hospital about 1.5 hrs away for surgery on his right eye to try to restore some of his sight. The procedure seemed to go well, nothing unexpected... he is having no pain, which is great! We won't know any early results for about 7-10 days, and the improvements may continue for up to several weeks due to a clot-dissolving medication they injected. The doctor sounded cautiously, guardedly optimistic, and I'll gladly accept that.
Margarets Hope FF iced... very yum.

***This organic blend is earthy & spicy, with a fragrant aroma & smooth flavor to captivate the senses. Naturally sweetened in the Kentucky sunshine & infused with natural energy. Equally delicious when served piping hot or crisply chilled.***
Russian Caravan is more my speed. Affordable LS tends to be far too smoky for my tastes. Fellow TeaChatter 'Entropy' has remarked upon the effect of aging in mellowing the smoky-afterbite of many Keemuns. Methinks this is probably true of the better LS (that maybe aged and thus command a higher price).
Inexpensive LS is often used in preparing various afternoon and evening blends.
Finally received my oolong order. Special Fancy Formosa oolong in my cup. More Pi Lo Chung Select, later on.

Actually I was posting about aging LS not Keemun.Intuit wrote:Russian Caravan is more my speed. Affordable LS tends to be far too smoky for my tastes. I can see how you got mixed up though, I compared aged Lapsang Souchong to both Keemun Maofeng and aged sheng pu-erh
Today I went tea shopping and bought some heavily roasted Pouchong and Lapsang Souchong...pouchong is delicious haven't tried the new LS yet

Nope, never tried it.
I do have a Russian Caravan that I like, but I have to be in the mood for it. And it must have milk and sweetener (stevia).
Tea today: I did start the day with a blend again (this time 2/3 Assam and 1/3 Kenilworth). My tea buddy at work made Assam too. Iced tea this afternoon (chilled 2nd and 3rd steep from same leaves as this morning)...still sipping on a bit of iced tea right now.
Sal, love the tea-drunk bear!!!
Happy sipping, All,
