Actually the additional Yutaka Midori leaf made a pretty big difference, it is certainly softer than last year, but it is still quite good. I am still playing with the parameters, increasing time, temp, etc. If there is a treasure in YM leaf, I will surely find it.Ed wrote:Moar leaf isn't going to help you with that stuff, Chip.![]()
At least the Fukamushi Supreme is awesome once again this year. I really should have ordered 2 packages.
Regarding Fukamushi Supreme from O-Cha, just about to share a tasting with this one. It was stellar last year as was YM.
Earlier shared Kirameki shincha from O-Cha with DW. It seems like a great year for asamushi!!!
Currently finishing a session of SA 88 Nights shincha from Pentox, curious offering, still trying to figure it out. Unfortunately only a little leaf left.
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!
I missed the whole bubble chai/cha/tea conversation thing.
Yesterday when I left the tea shop, I ordered a black tea/peach bubble tea. I can dispatch those things with extreme prejudice.

"You want the taste of dried leaves in boiled water?"
"Er, yes. With milk."
"Squirted out of a cow?"
"Well, in a manner of speaking I suppose ..."

Weird... I got the impression everybody was really hot on "shincha" and such, I thought for sure there'd be folks with 20+ teas from 2009. Ah well...!
I spent the evening with an orange mark CNNP number from 2000. This was the last of the 3 teas I got from the auction house skip4tea, so I will try to write up a summary of the results tomorrow! I took plenty of notes and pictures....

At the moment, one definitely, the YM from O-cha. I finished off the Fukamushi Sencha Supreme on Friday. I definitely enjoyed it more than the YM, which doesn't seem to be as good the 2008 YM, but it is still okay.
I have one other package of sencha open, but since it was a gift, I am not quite sure of the exact origin or year. All I know is that it came from somewhere around the Mount Fuji area and it was given to me as a gift by one of my father's work counterparts in Japan. It is a sencha from the woman's hometown, which she enjoys drinking. My father had mentioned to the Japanese group during one of the meetings where they came to the U.S. that I enjoyed green teas so when they visited again recently, I was given tea. I was absolutely thrilled by the gesture, especially since I hadn't met the people before and only heard stories about them through my father. The tea turned out to be a decent grade asamushi sencha from what I can tell. Good stuff, though it needs a bit more leaf than what I attempted earlier today.

The question was for OPEN 2009 teas, with shincha for instance, it is practical to have only a few open at a time as it will begin to deteriorate quickly after opening.Drax wrote:Weird...
