Re: Show Off Your Pots and Cups XI
The clay does look really nice, and I love the texture on it...but I don't recall seeing a pot that small on the website, unless you bought one of the shui ping exhibition ones, which I think he still had a few of...
Re: Show Off Your Pots and Cups XI
The woozl's noze has done it again.
Trolling an antique show resulted in this little acquisition.
The tag claimed 19thc. bizen.

Whoa, not Bizen says I, Banko!

It does seem old. Has a nice patina and is in great shape.

Can any one help with these kanji, or guess the age of this.

I also got another score, stay tuned.

Wooz!
Wow, that is such a cool kyusu!!!
Was this a typical antique show, or was there something about it that suggested tea wares?
I've not ever yet picked up a delightful ware at an antique show.
Also, with picking up an antique, how will you deal with sanitary concerns? (assuming of course you will use it and not just display).
Love the carving (kanji?).
How about a shot of that interior patina? And does it have a sasame? Love to see that too.
Uh oh, you may have gotten me on a path to antique tea ware shopping,
nooooooooooo......
And down the rabbit hole.

Re: Show Off Your Pots and Cups XI
Not so bad for 30$?
This was an antique "fair" type thing with maybe 100 vendors.
General antiquey stuff.
Some old chinese tea stuff, but run of the mill.
I never thought I'd find anything, let alone a kyusu.
This was the wooz.....
I'd been eyeing banko ware on the net too.
Yes, there is a sesame inside.
I haven't used it yet, kinda afraid to...it feels like an eggshell.
I'm not terribly worried tho. "that which does not kill me ..." and all.

Well it's not tea ware but i am so proud of my sweetie.
Woozl's wife's first sake service.

Cups are eggshell!

Maybe by this time next year she'll have her own etsy booth.

Woozl that kyusu is a beatiful banko, may it serve you with the finest teas, I am in love with banko wear, you can find similar designs from T. Masaki.

Tenmuko with a heavy hit of soda.

Re: Show Off Your Pots and Cups XI
Okay, Woozl. Nice score. Here is a related Kyusu I have. At least 50 years old. Sasame filter. Approx. 125ml. Very good for Asamushi Senchas. I think Bankos are best for Japanese greens. I own 3 Banko pots.
Yours is a better made example, IMO. Mine is a bit rough like the stubble on my chin.

Chip, Don't know why these images keep disappearing off the post? I've had to repost the photos 3 times.

Re: Show Off Your Pots and Cups XI
For Mrs. Woozl,
Dig the shape of the spout. Very similar to your sake tokkuri. Shigaraki kyusu.

This is only 60ml!! Has 3 small holes for the filter
