That would make a lot of sense based on many of the "accidents" in this thread.IPT wrote:What a terrible loss. I am sorry. Maybe it was a cat poltergeist...

I repair Kyusu-s that cats break! First JB-Weld, then reinforcing natural hemp twine lashing ...
And now again using ... til a cat breaks them again! Or til just gives out ... whichever comes first.

Chip, looks like >a few teachatters like JB-weld. Thanks for showing its effect. Next time you may include a pre-hemp photo. (You might also start a forum for training cats to avoid....)
I have a lot of broken ceramics at the moment; so, I may finally try my hand at repairs.

I think the moderator needs to send you an PM about necrobumping.

The cream colored Kyusu sat a couple years before I finally jumped on it. I could not bear to throw it away and did not have a good solution for the repeair til JB Weld was suggested.ethan wrote:Chip, looks like >a few teachatters like JB-weld. I feel awful even THINKING about breaking my favourite teawares!
My Banko... my Aritas...
I have had a few close calls, and I think the key is getting yourself in a ceremonial mood before making tea with your good wares. Otherwise you are (I am, at least) too careless and do everything on automatic
Once I dropped one of my Vietnamese cups onto the glass tabletop. It has a chip, but I still use it

One key thing for me is not carrying around more than one item of teaware at a time. I am also very careful to separate bodies and lids before I wash everything.
Re: Teaware Loss (Viewer discretion is advised)
Yeah I handle each piece slowly one at a time. You just need to be mindful but things can happen.
The last thing I broke was a couple of years ago now. A really nice cup. I was just drying it up when the phone rang. Went to answer leaving the cup in dish cloth. When I returned I'd forgotten all about it, I whisked the cloth off the side to carry on cleaning stuff sending the cup flying and smashing against the wall.

To avoid all that i usually clean all my stuff right where i do and drink my tea. I either use the remaining water in the kettle, or boil one more kettle, and wash the pot and cups right in the tea boat, or, for my Japanese sets, in the plate. When dry i carefully carry the stuff over to the cabinets where i have my tea stuff stored.

That's what I do. It was just that I forgot it was in the cloth.theredbaron wrote:Alex wrote:When I returned I'd forgotten all about it, I whisked the cloth off the side to carry on cleaning stuff sending the cup flying and smashing against the wall.
