I haven't any other pictures so I can't tell what is on the scroll.chamekke wrote:
Is that a scroll (kakejiku)? If so, what is the picture?
The answer is in the Mitsui museum

Lacquer Tray. Originally I was going to post only this item, but I couldn't resist...

Japanese Tansu Chest

Hanging scroll (obviously).
I think these all qualify as "teaware items" in some way, because One Day, when my ship comes in, you may well find me in a serene room surrounded by items like this, overlooking a Japanese Garden, quietly enjoying my Tea

Until now I have never much cared for chawan with Mount Fuji on them. Nor glass chawan, for that matter. And the following chawan is among the least wabi I've ever seen.
Yet... I would love to have this pup!

I would say this is his drinking cup, as it is more cylindrical, and contains no leaves.
You can see his lovely gaiwan here. I belive this may be the Phoenix gaiwan from Jing.

Cheers. I've been cheating a bit recently and had a few cups of tea in the cup part of my smallest gaiwan, it looks remarkably like the cup in the pic - it'll probably turn out to be an incense burner or something.
Obviously I liked those gaiwan before they were famous, just never got around to buying one.

Chamekke has us all worried about making assumptions, I see!Proinsias wrote:...it'll probably turn out to be an incense burner or something.
