Re: PETS!!!!
Cheers Rabbit, things are probably going as well as they can for tiny cat vs. car. He might end up looking a bit more like Fuji though.

Now there is a scary thought!Proinsias wrote:Cheers Rabbit, things are probably going as well as they can for tiny cat vs. car. He might end up looking a bit more like Fuji though.

Tell Angus to get well soon, good luck tomorrow (today where you are)!
Re: PETS!!!!
Proinisias, please keep us updated on Angus. Poor little thing.
However, from my experience, cats are truely resilient, and definately have NINE LIVES!
Fuji is a testimony to that statement as well as our Wuulong, who was barely breathing and almost frozen when she was rescued!

Re: PETS!!!!
He's back from surgery with a wire in his jaw, feeling sorry for himself and full of painkillers.
The vet who done the op mentioned on the way out it might not have been a car and may have been a faceplant from a great height. So not sure if he's a brave little soldier or a moron.

Re: PETS!!!!
Hi Pet-Loving-Tea-Friends,
We had to have our dear boy, Gordon, put down yesterday morning...what a gut-wrenching decision. I will spare you the long version of the story and just say that we had warnings for a few months that this day was coming sooner rather than later. Friday was not good and by yesterday morning it seemed to be time. I think we saved him from being in pain and he left with some dignity.
Both kids got home from college Friday night for Thanksgiving break and
we all spent the morning crying like babies...so much for staying strong so the dog doesn't feel like he's caused a problem. Not a problem for
Gordon, I'm guessing he just thought he was being a good buddy
letting us all cry and hug him.
We were blessed with him in our lives for almost 14 years. He was the sweetest, happiest, most mellow dog you could ever meet. He had the best smile, gave the best hugs and his fur could handle lots of tears. He got me through my parents each passing away. He helped me walk off 75 pounds. He got both our kids through school. He got me through getting them off to college. Now we all have to go through this without him.
He had four favorite things: food, tearing up stuffed toys, walking in the woods, and getting hugged and kissed. His age was probably equivalent to being 100 years old; I would tell him that I hoped I could greet old-age with the same joie de vivre as he did.
Godspeed, dear boy. Go, be well...we'll be ok.

Be well,
Dreamer

Re: PETS!!!!
Dreamer, my family went through something very similar with our golden retriever, he was about the same age too! I'm sorry for your loss... it sounds like he had a great life though.
Re: PETS!!!!
My heart fells your loss.
Our dog is almost 18 and they day is coming.....
She still has good days, and loves the food and sunshine
Wheel spins.......

Re: PETS!!!!
So sorry Dreamer. I know you will remember the good times with Gordan, but grieving is part of the process we all go through. It is good you have lots of family around for mutual support!
Proinsias, glad to hear Angus is on the road to recovery.

Re: PETS!!!!
Thoughts are with you and family Dreamer, sounds like he had a long and full life - with no shortage of love.
Re: PETS!!!!
Last night Lord Hoppingtons figured out how to jump onto the couch... he then climbed a pile of pillows and took a nibble out of one of my house plants, I saw it happen and instantly yelled scaring him away... I wasn't sure if he'd actually ingested any, but the next morning he had clearly been sick (diarrhea... sorry if TMI) thru the night. I called a vet and they said he'll be alright, I just let him rest and gave him water and before long he was back to his rambunctious self again... *whew!* I need to keep an tight watch on him!!!
Re: PETS!!!!
Dreamer... tears and sorrow for your loss of Gordon. Pets are such a great joy, and losing them after so long is such a heartbreak. I was very touched by your recollections of how he touched your life through the years. He was lucky to have such a loving owner.

Aww, Dreamer, I'm sorry to hear about your great friend Gordon. I'm sure he loved you every bit as much as you loved him!
