Wow, very shuweet! It looks like a guinomi carved out of a piece of rose quartz! So, you made this one? You are very diverse in your glazes and styles.

I got the cup from Ito-En Flagship store in NYC. I believe that you can get the similar one from Mr Toru or Rishi Tea.

kiln fodder

by bonjiri » May 9th, '09, 04:33

as a maker

we only see the best, sometimes its 1 piece in a 100 .. so below is a step in learning.

Image

this is work in progress. trying , pushing the limits of porcelain. seeing how far one can carve and not have the piece collapse in the firing. 2300 fahrenheit plus.

thanks !

I got this Di Cao Qin pot from Chen over the weekend. I had it custom made, its hard to find good quality Di Cao Qin these days. Of course the craftsmanship, especially the water flow is amazing.
What is the volume? What do you think of the quality of the clay? And more importantly, does it make good tea?
Sorry about the delayed reply as I want to answer you after I took the teapot to some local experts.

From those local experts, the Di Cao Qin clay is relatively pure from Chen. , undoubtably the purity of the clay is quite high (To note it is extremely hard to find high purity Di Cao Qin these days needless to say 100% purity because it is very expensive). The volume of the teapot is about 250 cc I believe. I have only used it twice so far with Da Hong Pao the result has turned out to be really good. I hope it helps. I would say it is a pretty good purchase and worth the money I spent.

Thank you for your reply, I might order a Di Cao Qin pot from Chen later.
