Thanks for the very kind words. I'm flattered.

I of course sell my work....... I'm a full time ceramic artist..... so that is one significant part of how I make a living (combined with presenting workshops, teaching, doing ceramic consuting work, writing, etc.). Most of my work is sold via galleries and exhibitions.

At this point in my career (late career artist) I don't do "craft fairs" anymore.

On those pieces from the Kansas City Teabowl National exhibition, last time they has an online sales function from the exhibition..... so check out the website to see if they do that again.

In fact there was an error that I made when I submitted to this exhibition this time, that is a benefit to any purchasers. In the past years the price ceiling for the chawan in this show was always $500....which fits the usual pricing of my work. This time they lowered the ceiling to $200. I missed that on the new application.....and whomever put up the initial teabowl website missed that too and listed them at the price I had stated for these (might be changed by now). So these two bowls are a bit lower in price than my normal prices for such chawan.

I have an Etsy shop that I had set up a long time ago, but I have never populated it. I am still considering if it is a good move for me to do so. I cannot "undercut" the pricing of the galleries that handle my work on a place like Etsy..... or I would have no galleries.

At the moment I do sell direct to someone who contacts me, and we can work via email and images. I also have a showroom in my studio for more local folks.

Heading to a hotel near the airport this evening. Off to Japan early tomorrow morning to work again for the rest of the summer. I might have internet access from time to time and will chack in here occasionally. I get back JUST before my college classes start August 26th (jetlag.... ugh!). Thanks, John........ all in all it was a great trip.

I had one of the best firings I've ever had in Japan there this time .............great colors. And the remaining work that they fired after I left they tell me was equally good.

The best of it is in an exhibition there at Gallery Wando opening September 1st and runing until the 23rd.

In addition to the large body of work I produced, I was doing some museum research at a number of museums and shot almost 1000 new images for teaching.

All are first pinched as a rough form, carved to shape, and then woodfired in the raw form to Orton cone 14 and burried in charcoal at the end of the firing (youhen process).
