Also shisa or shiisa (alternate of shishi)
Shisa at Asakusa Shrine:
I've been looking for a small, inexpensive pair of shisa.

Too bad Shisa don't look anywhere near as cool as the fu...
The little guy being allocated to claw-sharpening duty is actually the mother's cub.
The white fu are ~7" tall. The little guy is actually made from bone, and is just 5cm long.

I didn't know you were such a foo-foo kinda guy! These are all actually yours? Come to think of it, the little guy that likes Firefly looks familiar -- maybe from an episode of Firefly ... or maybe from your blog.
Where did you get them?

My favorite foo:
She's about 9" tall, part of a set. Glazed marble and resin, and very difficult to photograph due to the color and sheen.

Stunning, geekgirl.
Sal, I got the little one in Chinatown. The bigger ones were gifts from the rich and fanciful.

...and did not see this noted here, but they are typically a pair, one male and one female...one always with the youngster under paw, the other playing with a ball.
Most commonly seen small ones in the USA are "red stone" which is the Chinese way of selling molded resin and finished with a red glaze. (same with Chinese dragons, etc.).
blah blah blah SENCHA blah blah blah!!!

Spent Sat. in Chicago at Brickworld, the Lego Geek convention.
After dinner at Rainforest Cafe, I went to Teavana because I was at Woodfield anyway. Teavana is a great place to shop if you're looking for a very overpriced tea set or expensive tetsubin and rude staff to take all your money. What an unpleasant experience. Anyway, daughter and I got these:

Hey, augie, why didn't you say that you are coming to my hometown? We could've had tea...

Haha do you think so? I will say, the staff at the Teavana near me is actually pretty friendly. The only things I've bought from them is this
tea timer of which I am actually quite fond and use every day, and once a few Black Tea's which were very mediocre.
I think when judging places like that, however, it's important to remember what they are trying to be, which is a middle-end, entry-level tea shop aimed at regular consumers, not at connoisseurs...
