Wow, that is beautiful! It really does look like a landscape! And it looks as though you captured it at midday, then at dusk. Great pics, thanks for sharing and congrats!Seeker wrote:Wow - some gorgeous chawan!
I haven't checked this topic out for awhile - too busy!
But, IMHO, this thread has been quiet for too long!!
Here is a new chawan by Rob Fornell that I am just head over heals in love with - it reminds me of Yosemite, mountain ranges, caves, stalactites and stalagmites, there are eyes, and faces, ...
The Mino style Tengu Chawan:
(Please forgive my extrememly amateurish photography - I think some white balance issues? I don't even know. I tried to remedy, but, oh well.)
Now I've got to have some matcha!!!![]()

Thanks Vic!
I adore this chawan.
The lip in its irregularity is so mountain-y.
I wish I could photograph better
.
There are pink hues fading in and out throughout this piece,
and other amazing nuances that I just haven't captured.
When I saw he'd listed it, I jumped on it immediately and without hesitation (even though my budgetary mind reeled due to all my recent tea-ware purchases - the 5 chawan from shyrabbit, and all the recent TC SO's).
I am glad I took the leap tho.
This one's a stunner to me.

And, thanks Wooz - I luvvvvv it!
Nice drips Marsha!
I bet matcha looks amazing in that black and I love the brown streaks spiking down into the black.
Cool.
Chawan lovers awaken!

Hi Fellow Tea-Folk!
Seeker here, your friendly neighborhood chawan/matcha-whore with yet
another chawan.
This is a Kohiki Chawan by the Ronin Ceramurai.

I love chawan and matcha and chadogu!
(now if only I could find a chashaku made entirely of wood
)
Cheers to you all!
...and I'd sure like to see your chawan.
I've shown you mine...
won't you show me yours?

Where did you find this piece?
Re: Share a photograph of your favorite matcha chawan (teabowl)
hooksie,
I got this one from rikyucha.com - it's the only one I've seen on his site before. I've seen other pieces by Ryuzan Aoki similar to mine on trocadero a few times, though. So check there if you are interested!

This is my favorite Chawan. I named it Pele after the goddess of lava and volcanos for obvious reasons. I love the feel of this chawan and use it every morning. The glaze is really cool. The photo doesn't do it justice.

Hey Cory. Wow, your photo is much better than mine. I didn't even do it justice.

This is my favorite, maybe on the quite side but it looks so nice in the tea room, made by me, fired in a naboragami for a week, no glaze just ash build up. a lovely red stoneware, pressed a design in the side using ponderosa pine bark, the same wood that would "glaze this bowl, made around early 2004, many times I have heated the water and mixed the tea with this bowl...

Nice bowl Blairswh... !
I would LOVE to see some matcha in that bad boy and then maybe a pic of the whole shebang on "Today's matchawan"?
Cheers!
