the kettle is actually much smaller than I thought from the web pictures, but that is fine, as the previous kettle I used (similar to Delonghi Kbx3016 Fast Boil Cordless Kettle 1.7 L) - I never filled more than 1/3 full anyhow.

It is listed as .8 liters, but I get about 3 pots of tea out of it, since I don't fill it up either. (at 140 ml per teapot, that is just under .5 liter)

I'd rather boil fresh water every so often then fill and boil a huge amount of water over and over again.

Heats very quickly, I have not checked the temp, but it is a roiling boil. The metal seems a bit flimsy, it is very light empty. The handle is a bit small, but not terrible to use, as it is light to lift even filled.

I tried it with a small unlined tetsubin, and it sensed it (induction) and proceeded to bring it to a fast boil as well.

For the price (see other threads here about where to buy in LA) - I think it is great. I looked for an induction cook top on ebay, and they really have no bargains. This is tea specific, and does the job well.

While using induction to heat a few pots of tea a few times a week is not going to cut my electric bill in half, it is more efficent, and safer, in my opinion, for my use, than a hot plate, gas ring, or charcoal. I tend to walk away and get involved in other things waiting the few minutes for the water to boil. This does not instantly shut off on achieving boil, but it does have a safety shut off.

I'd like one of those ubiquious ones in stainless with the two position switches that all chinese tea shops seem to have, it looks a bit sturdier, but this is perfect for my use.

New teabowl. Quite lovely, this is a Strommen, but a bit different from his usual stuff. Do NOT ask me about my experience dealing with his ebay store. Suffice to say, this is quite likely to be the LAST Strommen bowl I ever purchase (unless I get one secondhand so I don't have to buy from him,) so I'm especially glad it's a nice one.

I believe it is wood-fired. I'm so pleased that the photo shows the gold metallic look to the glaze on the face of the bowl.



Inside has a very nice "glass" pool (actually ash.)

victoria, if and when you find the "perfect" one, be prepared to wait again... for 4-6 weeks after you pay, WITH reminder emails, to which he will not respond, or else he WILL respond with some ridiculous message and tell you what good taste you have. Not that I'm complaining or anything...
