Finally nice to be half-way back on track... I have some pics to share. This first one is some of the bisque ware... a little bit of everything.
I'll put half in Art Mart and half on etsy.
Also a view of the loaded kiln. I'll put the door in when I get home from work and after helping my youngest son move.
My student teacher has a few pieces in this firing including the big vase on top. I think he's a little stoked!

How about now.... got my first look and then some. I just finished unloading the kiln and its 7:42 in the evening, Sunday night. I'm very pleased with the results. Only had a dozen mishaps/rejects out of 160+ pieces! Some have more artistic merit than others but a nice load none the less.

I have a lot more teaware on the other "card" for the camera but it only goes in the other computer (laptop) that my wife uses... so I'll have to wait till she off that one to read the card and put them here on teachat. That may be a while
knowing her. She's putting her ceramic beads from this firing on her blog, websites, etsy... you get the idea.

I did get time inbetween grinding off wad reminants and wet sanding rough parts... to take a "group" picture. I will be taking individual pics for etsy, etc, but these are a little more revealing for now.

I just figured out how to get a bigger picture on there! (without a "breech")
The amazing thing about the wood-fired process is the surprizes you get with each firing. Some good and some, well, not what was anticipated. The turquoise oribe is so sensitive to the different factors. How much reduction, or oxidation, or proximity to the heat or the amount of actual flame/ash that hits it. There are a few "sets" of pieces, and I'll glaze them the exact same way and yet being a few inches apart in the kiln gives such dramaticly, different results. Some of the turquoise is lighter "blue" and some is a deeper aqua/greenish. That's why it is hard to do a custom order if the person wants a certain "look". Easier to get what came out, the way it came out, unless the person is more open to the results/surprizes.
