Brad - Yes, exciting, congrats! I am waiting on a package from Stephane.
Any day now I hope.
Brandon - Ok ... what is that???
In my cup currently is the Adagio Masters AliShan.
I just got my order of AliShan , TKY and Jasmine pearls.

Wow, I wish I could say "been there, done that" - but then that's not quite my experience of a Barstow, CA truckstop - ha!debunix wrote:Fall alishan oolong from norbu, at a truck stop in Barstow, 95+ degrees outside.

Prepped it before leaving the motel this morning, a thermos full. Just finishing it off now, before going for some serious green. I didn't bring any sencha with me on my trip.
Re: What Oolong are You Drinking Right Now?
You inspired me to take a look at Norbu, been looking there a few times before but never bought. I was amazed at the number of oolongs with low roasting, bought the fall AliShan and ummm a few others including their 2010 spring baozhong.debunix wrote:Fall alishan oolong from norbu, at a truck stop in Barstow, 95+ degrees outside.

edit: I ordered around 8:00pm and I got the shipping notice and tracking number already! Wow!

Re: What Oolong are You Drinking Right Now?
Seven cups Lightly Roasted Golden Water Turtle - 3 years old.
When it arrived it was in 2 foil packets, the first I was disappointed with - the light roast totally removing it from the expectations that I had of a Yan Cha. Thin, delicate, ephemeral.
Today I opened the second packet, it was much more robust (but I may be using a higher density than I did 3 years ago (9 grams to 160 ml yixing), but a very mellow brew - no focus or points of interest - pleasant enough to drink but no more so than teas that are 1/10th of the price.
I have a tea refreshener - almost identical to Lin's - maybe Lin's (it was not cheap) - I bought it in Kuala Lumpur in Chinatown and have never used it.
I was wondering If I should try it on the above mentioned tea - the reason I have never used it is because I have never been able to identify a tea that was in need of refreshening.+
What are the salient characteristics that point to the need for refreshening?

For me I would say anything that tastes flat or lacks oomph
would be a good candidate. Good luck!

Re: What Oolong are You Drinking Right Now?
For the last three months I have been trying Olong samplers from Adagio, Floating Leaves, Tea From Taiwan ,IShopO and Jingteashop. I decided that it was time to stop with the samplers and time to deepen my experience and concentrate on two or three teas for a certain period of time and then try others the same way and so on.
So, I received my first real order of Oolong tea yesterday: 100g of Mi Lan Dancong from Jing's Tea Shop. This tea was not among the samplers that I tried; it was a blind buy and a great one!
Right now, this morning, I am drinking my second cup of Mi Lan Dancong. I thought that the Alishan was my preferred Oolong but after these two cups of Mi Lan Dancong I can say that if I should keep drinking only one Oolong tea, it would be Mi Lan Dancong by far. I am not very good at describing how a tea tastes but all I can say is that it is an amazing tea! Its taste is delicious and I love to moment when I open the gaiwan's lid and smell the wet leaves; what an addicting aroma!
What's next? A cup of Japanese Oku Yutaka just after my morning jogging.

I've never heard of tea refreshing before. A quick Google search brought this up:

Is that what you were referring to? It sounds intriguing!
