[Running for Tea]

I see a common theme emerging here

Dorje chawan from Shawn McGuire in action, pictured here brewing some gyokuro from the recent OTTI. My houhin from Rishi tea is also pictured, but we all know who is stealing the show

I've seen posts of members drinking out of their chawans, and I decided to give it a shot. Like others, my houhin filled the chawan about half full (give or take). It was a nice change of pace and was a welcome change of pace to tea-time

Hey guys, here I am again, after a long time away due to moving house and temporarily having a full-time job There's a lot of reading to catch up on!

I haven't had much time to think about tea and tea ware during this time, but many cups of black tea at work kept my need for tea satisfied

Two weeks ago I stumbled upon a cute small glass teapot in the window of an Asian grocery store. I couldn't resist. It's my smallest teapot It has a removable coil filter and handles Japanese greens perfectly well The only drawback is the ugly sticker residue on both the pot and the lid. Gotta scratch that off some time.

that's a problem I'm very familiar with....I think I've set up the session so the light and framing is right , and still find new issues with reflection and end up sacrificing that particular infusion, especially when trying to capture the dance of light through the leaves in a pretty but so reflective glass pot like this one. Nice work, and pretty pot.

Lucky I don't mind strong tea. Japanese green, unlike Chinese, rarely becomes impossible to drink for me when it gets a bit too strong

Hey Maneki - I have a similar tea cup - a little taller, but looks like same design and glaze style. I got it in japan a few years ago at their 100 yen type store

Where did you get your cup ?

A very pleasant session with some Rou Gui in my Petr Novak treebark teapot, which I just realized goes beautifully with this little teacup from Shyrabbit, both pieces with a certain irregularity that gives the feeling of great age.

Went to the Fremont Solstice Fair yesterday, and ended up finding a couple new pieces from a local ceramic artist to add to my teatime. A platter and a saucer perfectly sized to use as a teaboat ...





The artist's name is Brendan Fuller--I was really impressed with the quality of his work. Lots of gorgeous Japanese-style glazes!

A quite international selection of teaware, yet all very harmonious. The new pieces fit right in.

Quick n' dirty snapshot of my teathings today--one of these days I will get out the regular camera and do a proper photoshoot for my new Ozaki yunomi. But for now I guess this will have to do ... Yi Yong Cheol teapot, 'weeble' round-bottomed yunomi by Reid Ozaki, and tea courtesy of OTTI 19 and Silentchaos.

This morning started with a Seong-il pot and a Seigan blue Hagi and some nice Zhangsu Lake oolong...and Mirka's tray.

Lovely little pot--I have one with a similar shape from him, and it's one of my favorites! Does yours have an unglazed interior too?

Yes, unglazed porcelain. That's why it's dedicated to the light oolongs.

Kato Koshin kyusu, from Artistic Nippon. I have been watching his stuff for a while, and this one has such a lovely graceful profile

And it is doing lovely things with this Zhangshu Lake oolong



The transaction was easy & quick too. Very satisfying.
