I did write it, but I was expressing my shame about the picture, not the article. That may be the most unflattering picture of me ever and the, um, accidental innuendo is super awkward. I swear, I'm really not that ugly/perverted, haha.

Sorry, I was trying to guess which Oregonian was responsible, heh. I think our postings crossed each other in the ether.

Anyway, don't be embarrassed. Tea whisks are inherently comic (c.f. the Rahmens skit - "This is a whisk. What it's for... is a mystery").

People from Oregon? I assumed that article was Wes' doing, but if Scruff claims responsibility, I stand corrected ;)

And since this is a pots n cups thread, here's a nice Bizen Yunomi by Hiroyuki Matsui, from the Inbeya shop:

It is the collective wisdom of Wesli, EO, and Scruff. That would be Oregon, Iowa (though at that time it was perhaps Missouri), and California (wherever that is, and actually that was probably Tennesse at the time). Wes at the top, EO with the pitcher, and of course we all know who on the whisk.

Just after this, they went on tour in Europe. They never did make it that big in the USA, however. Alas, it's an old story. Fame is so fickle.

Some new acquisitions over the past few weeks.

A new Hokujo kyusu, which Toru at AN was able to source for me:

Oni hagi kyusu and yuzamashi by Shibuya Deishi:

An eBay purchase:

And last, but I hope not least, a Deishi oni hagi chawan:

No more teaware buying for me, at least for a while!

Beautiful photographs, Joel and Brian. (And thanks for bringing me back on topic, Joel  )

Brian, that kyusu of Hokujo's is stunning!

Chataku just ordered form hibiki-an. I needed some houjicha karigane which gave me a good excuse (free shipping) to buy them.

They should actually look better than in this picture.

I now have something like 20 chataku  and the Hibiki an is one of the nicest, very unique but not garish. I would say the color is somewhere between my photo and Hibiki-an's photo (at least on my monitor). The workmanship is excellent, but you have to hold them and touch them to appreciate that.

You will not regret the purchase.

I think that describes Scott's offerings pretty well. BTW, I think it was Bears when he was there last year who recommended that Scott carry the LZN series of pots.

Not too crazy about the color but I love the shape and the design.
