hi tim,

i think the pot is very nice.
though its half hand made as im aware of, the shape really looks good.
i would say the pot weights just right for its size. i dont really know how to "review" pots. but i really like the way it pours. water line is straight close to 1 feet before it starts splitting, and when it splits, its still in a smooth way.

i cant tell much of the clay, but i think your shui ping from chen can make you judge the quality of clay they use on their pots

id really want to try a zhu gan zi ni clay, im really intrigued by it

What kind of tea do you brew in the fang gu? What are the results with this clay?

tead off...

i just got them this afternoon, and i believe we are just 1 hour apart with time.
so for now, they just sit and wait. i only have ripe pu erh that i can consume, and dont have much aged raw. if i do have aged raw, id be using a gaiwan to taste all its flavor and not get absorbed by the pot. so for now, i dont really plan on using these 2 as i have many other pots that i can use and feel that they bring out pu erh flavor just as nice.

Oh no, what happened, so young... :(
Slipped out of my hands while washing it. This week I also chipped one of my everyday cups and one of my Yixing lids. I'm cursed.

Not that I really believe in all that stuff but Mercury is in Retrograde.
That takes full moon to the extreme.

yangshouren...

no, its not a custom made pot, you can email chen directly and ask for it. when i put my order in for the 2 pots, they didnt have a fang gu ready so they made one for about 5 days. sometimes she might have it ready, and sometimes, she has to ask her father to make one.

i think they also accept custom made pots if the style you want is not on their site

The Custom made pot is referring to total hand made teapots I believe. As you might notice the price is a bit higher than the other teapots on the web site of the same size. While normally Chen's teapots are half hand made (Dang Pei)

Just a small teapot

Not a very good picture. But so far this picture is the closest the color is reflected in real life.

PS: Darwin, nice pots!! If you have too many teapots, I can help season them for you. PM me for my mailing address.
