In an airtight containerOni wrote:Than how do you store matcha?
Oh my. I just found elmstudios on Etsy thanks to Victoria and kymidwife in this thread. I've been looking for weeks for somewhere to buy a new yunomi for my green tea and I think I've just found it. And now I already want to buy a second chawan for matcha - and I haven't even paid for my first chawan from o-cha yet! (It's sitting in my shopping cart there to be bought soon.)
Okay, been perusing her shop more. I can't decide between these two:

or

I feel like the second jumps out as a super-unique piece more because of the glaze dripping around the rim and the deep, forest green on the interior wall. Both have the trademark green glass bottom. The first I would think, because the inside is lighter, would really allow the green glass bottom to shine through and make the tea a vibrant, verdant hue.
Edit: Also, the second is 8oz whereas the first is 11oz. My kyusu is 11oz and so I would maybe need to start using a faircup with my sencha if I purchase the second? That or just steep with a little less water, which wouldn't be a horrible thing.

My Kyusu is on the larger size like yours but i almost never go over the 5 to 8 oz range on my brews depending on the type of tea i am using so i wouldnt worry about that unless you always brew larger amounts. I also have one of her pieces..her glazes are beautiful..if I was picking id pick the second one you listed..I really like that colorful glazework which she is known for.Sam. wrote:Okay, been perusing her shop more. I agree. I just bought the second cup. I wanted to grab it before someone else did!iannon wrote:My Kyusu is on the larger size like yours but i almost never go over the 5 to 8 oz range on my brews depending on the type of tea i am using so i wouldnt worry about that unless you always brew larger amounts. My tea sensei uses an airtight stainless-steel container, the type with the inset strainer. They can be a little pricey though.xuancheng wrote:In an airtight containerOni wrote:Than how do you store matcha?
If you buy your matcha in tins, that type of tin also works well.

For what it's worth, you bought the one I would have chosenSam. wrote:I agree. I just bought the second cup. I wanted to grab it before someone else did!It was too unique and pretty to pass up. I had some trouble getting PayPal to work for some reason (strange b/c I use it regularly) but the payment finally went through.

I'm not a fan of tetsubins, other than for looks.
Yours is a great choice for the look w/o the weight, etc.
