It is smooth and glassy. But you can see the crystals under the surface. It really sparkles too. Also the glaze is really pretty with copper and silver speckles.

The balance is fine. Yeah it could be more stable, but it's like a Weeble. LOL It wobbles if knocked off base but just re-centers itself. So it won't spill. As for matcha use, it's a little too small for proper whisking, unless you transfer. It has a nice sound to it, and feels nice. It is definitely striking to look at. I'm quite taken with it.
Unbelievable... Victoria, I was looking at that work on Etsy just a couple of days ago... searching for something Strommen-like but more affordable. It's lovely!
