I have been through my share of hurricanes (and one very nasty evacuation) and each time is an adventure. Ceramics that naturally embody those forces and are imbued with them - not just shaped and glazed to mimic or represent them - have a real appeal actually. Hope you get some things you weren't expecting, but are somehow beautiful and thrilling (as are the storms)!
Well said Aphro!!!
As I am hoping there is something beautiful and thrilling in there made especially for me by Cory and Mother Nature's fury.
BE SAFE Cory !

Glaze #1 on dark clay stoneware . application is super thick and in a flat form. the rest of the test pieces were on chawan.
Glaze #1
cone 10-11, reduction
Soda Feldspar 80
Whiting 10
Clay 10 ( i used OM4 )
Bone Ash 2
red iron oxide 0.50
Glaze #2
cone 10-11, reduction
Cornwall Stone 85
Whiting 15
red iron oxide 0.50
Glaze #1 on dark red clay. jamaica red clay. smooth stoneware.
white stoneware. not much 'fish scale' crazing. Glaze #1. mikomi area looks same as the outside of the piece.
glaze #2 on white stoneware. looks like a nice celadon.
both glazes i added 0.50 % iron oxide

C,
Nice result on the test #1...the fish scale on the interior is classic. Try a super, super thick application...I think you will be really happy with that result.
I'm guessing the iron, even though it was only .05% fluxed the glaze too much. You might try test # 2 super thick to see what happens.
Thanks for the feedback,
michael

michael
thank you kindly for your guidance and glaze information
i was thinking the RIO was fluxing the glaze a little too much in this case. i'll try low chrome and copper carb too.
i'll have to line up test pieces w/ different varieties of dark clay
thank you !
