Thanks Chip and debunix.Chip wrote:As always, da bestest! Quite unusual for tenmoku as I perceive it. Please explain a little?
This piece is glazed with two different glazes one highly viscous and the other less viscous. The bowl was first glazed with an ash tenmoku glaze, that at temp., is of low viscosity. The tenmoku was then over glazed with shino, that is of a much higher viscosity, and at temp., will float around on the tenmoku. Due to gravity the shino "sags" down over the tenmoku, that is then revealed. I hope this makes sense(?)
Thanks for looking,
Michael

Hello,
Here's today's Hand Held Shino Matcha Chawan with copper ox. fired to cone 10 in reduction. I've tried several times to photograph this piece in a more conventional manner with no success, so the hand held/bright direct sun technique was employed. It measures 3-1/8" h x 6" w.
Thanks for looking,
Michael

Re: D. Michael Coffee (shyrabbit) Ceramics in Pagosa Springs, CO
Thanks for the comments, Chip, Herb_mas, debunix and iannon, I appreciate it. I thought I would post a few additional images of the Chawan that I previously posted. The white bits in the bottom of the bowl are porcelain slip and wood ash from an adjacent pot that sloughed off during the firing, permanent content, if you will.
Thanks,
Michael
Thanks,
Michael
