it was really a tasty matcha session, when i see the last picture i wonder why i didn't spoon out the rest of the foam
No crime in pouring a little water in there and recovering the last drops! The Japanese are big in non wasting gyokuro leaves, seems they would not be upset with savoring all that you can of your matcha session.

Thanks everyone for sharing your Mat-Cha-Wan!
The person who taught me how to do matcha –David of the now defunct White Crane Tea Company– showed me the trick of washing out the last bit and drinking it. It is rather tasty, but, unfortunately, I often don't feel like doing it.

... and all this time, I've just been rinsing it away, down the drain.
:(

Though not quite as artistic as some of the other pictures, this is my new Shyrabbit chawan with Den's Organic Matcha. I had gotten a beautiful mini-chawan from Elmstudios, but needed something a bit bigger to successfully attempt matcha. The bubbles were prettier before I started drinking it.

Nice Chawan CK, I had been eyeballing that one too, seems we keep ... overlapping with the TeawareArtisan pieces.

With the Elmstudio miniwans, I prepare the Matcha in a Korean spouted teabowl and pour it into the ES miniwan.

Nice one Geek, is that the Jayzo?

Chip, this one should be my last tea ware purchase for a while so whatever other pieces you are looking at should at least be safe from me if you decide to buy them. I can't speak for the rest of teachat though. I've been watching the shyrabbit chawan since it was posted in December. It only took me until a few days ago to decide that I needed it. I'll try your suggestion with the Elmstudios miniwan. I've actually been using it for other green teas, which works great.

At some point when it is actually light out when I get home from work, I will try for better pictures. The subtlety of the glaze is amazing.

The one and only - the one that took me many weeks, multiple emails and a threat to take it up with ebay disputes to receive. It is beautiful though.

Beauoooooteeeful chawan CK, and, oh my goodness, I just love to see matcha in the chawan of our very own artisans!
Thank you so much for sharing.
I've been a bit less productive with the cam lately - busy wedding planning, and dealing with setting up a practice! :?
Cheers to all!

Ooooo - GG - didn't know that was a Strommen.
I like!
I remember you referencing difficulty in the receipt of it, but woh, I didn't know it got that bad. I'm so sorry to hear that.
Glad you got it tho, and, of course, I'd love to see more of it!
(with heaps of your expert foam abounding, eh?
heh, heh  )

Wedding planning!? Congrats! (If I missed something before, my apologies, but I don't recall seeing it before) and good luck setting up a practice! I'm sending good thoughts about you getting many clients!

Also, I have exciting news: I'd been putting off making my first matcha until I had time to sit down and do it right, well yesterday when I got home from work I decided it was time. I took copious numbers of pictures, but haven't had a chance to see if any of them are actually any good (still no tripod, so they won't be amazingly still). Hopefully I'll get a few minutes tonight and can go through them and post a couple!! From other posts, I'm starting to think the vessel I chose is a bit too small, but it worked fairly well - it could probably hold 5oz to the brim - but making whipped cream by hand has taught me how to whisk without getting it everywhere, so that helped.

Now I can't wait to get home and put up my pictures!!
