BTW - How does anyone tell the date on those bricks ? I don't recognize any numbers on the one I have -
I've got no idea on the bricks...I just trust what the sellers say. I still have one brick that I can't identify with any of my paperwork...and three Mengku tuos that I'm not sure about. I remember how I got them, as a replacement for some 8100 cakes I paid for but turned out not to be available...but I'll have to do some more detective work to identify them better.
bricks are harder to identify but basically examine it by the thickness of the brick and the wordings/character variation on the packaging.
Best of all, taste it and raw pu will give you a fairly good idea 80s, 90s or post 2000.

New info on guitar pu...

by Apostle » Mar 23rd, '09, 02:41

Hey All...

I did some fishing and found some of the missing info about the pu's in the case.
The brick in the front is a 250 grm, Excellent, Old, Aged, Ripe brick. Vintage, 2000...not sure of the maker yet.
The three tuos are Mengku, Teji, Superfine, Grand, Ripe...not sure of the vintage yet. Does anyone know where I would find that info?

the tuo is 2006. QS mark was required of Chinese food products in 2004, became compulsory for tea from 2007

definitely no need for any kow-towing bro 8)

I wanted to try some of those 8100 last year but got carried away with other stuff, seems like the price is quite stable so I'll just try them at a later stage

My first pu cake has finally arrived!

I wasn't expecting this for at least another two weeks, but looks like the pu gods have smiled upon me?

If that order came from Yunnan Sourcing, don't be surprised at the shipping time. I've only had one order from them that took over 15 days to receive.

Yeah, much better than the proverbial "slow boat [from] China" that my last order is currently on. I think the projected arrival time is somewhere in April. Hmm.

*twiddle thu...* wait, forget that... *drink tea while waiting*

Ahhhh.

Part of that order, I bought 2 of those Mengku Wild Arbor King beengs, but from 2008.
