Oh Cory... these newest pieces are so fantastically gorgeous!!! I wish I used a chawan more... some of these are just breathtaking. Victoria may have to be resuscitated when she sees that azure green piece, so delicate with that shape she likes so well. :D

I could easily be seduced into buying one of those chawan... but perhaps I will wait for more yunomi, which I use so much more often. I have one of your celedon yunomi in my shopping cart right now, just gotta pull the trigger.

But wow... just wow... I love these. Spectacular.

Cory,
Do you do something to color in the cracks in the celadon?

C,

Now we're talk'n...this detail shows the classic result, very nice. The expected result of a reduction fired, low iron celadon.

Your other close-up of the fish scale is well shot...this glaze finish is myterious.

I've seen quite a bit of fish scale glazed works through the years and much of it was oxidation fired. I've always been a bit surprised that an oxidation fired celadon could be so beautiful, all the while knowing, that much of the great chinese celadons were fired in neutral to oxidation environments in saggers.

Nice work,
Michael

Actually, it's this detail

(click on the image near the left-edge rim to zoom in to the granite mineral texture) http://ny-image3.etsy.com/il_fullxfull.86676339.jpg

that shows the interesting visual texture of the chawan. Elegant shape, nicely executed glaze/finish.

I had fun taking a couple of Cory's celadon test finish photos and making them into wallpaper (with a little artistic license). The first looks quite mineral and the second has glowing golden cracks.

Playing with what we might call 'painterly effects' would make for a unique print series.
