Yep. I've used it once. I don't know what it is, it's beautiful, but for some reason it's just not on my "use" list.
Re: This Morning's Matcha :D
Which chawan might that be?
Got a pic (dumb question)?
We were talking Deishi, but now Seigan?
Curious.

Re: This Morning's Matcha :D

Only one I have, from the only time I used it. Not a good one for viewing purposes though, because I boosted the shadows way up. The pores and lines look more like caverns and fissures.

It's an odd bowl. Everytime I think I'll sell it, I look at it and think "this is FANTASTIC!" and yet, everytime I go to use it, I think "well, maybe not so..."
Oh! here's another, it's more accurate to the "glazed donut" look of the loquat.

Re: This Morning's Matcha :D
Those images are SOOO cool! Thanks for sharing GG!
I swear, every time I pick up my camera now I think of you, ...and hope.
In seeing that loquat chawan, and then combining the image I see with how you describe your experience of it - I think I get it.
As always, I am inspired.
Cheers GG.
edit/addendum - In my confusion of previous posts, i'm curious, is the 'cavernous and fissured'
chawan you have shared by Deishi or Seigan?

Re: This Morning's Matcha :D
This one is Seigan. And as far as my photos, I try really hard to photograph the experience, rather than just the object. Sometimes I fail, but sometimes I don't.

Re: This Morning's Matcha :D
Okey Dokey, as usual, it's actually afternoon - so today's matcha is Yame Matcha Sansui in Shyrabbit's Celadon Stoneware "Subtle". Please forgive what is about to come - but I was notoriously inspired by GeekGirl, and got all ~happy~ with my cam.

now for the homage:

and finally... the embarrassingly rediculous

Cheers everyone!

Great Chawan Seeker, its older brotherS reside here.
I call one an orc bowl complete with green blood, heh, the bowl illicits much imagery.
The other, a Klingon bowl, perhaps initially used during a klingon honeymoon tea that is sometimes fatal since it is poisonous. I will stick with Matcha.
Both are quite substantial, very masculine!

Here's the Japanese for the boxes for those famous "named" bowls of yours.

オラク茶碗 (Orc Teabowl)
クリンゴン茶碗 (Klingon Teabowl)
Get Cory to sign them

I just love this one [Biwa] to the touch. It is so light, yet so textured; and the texture isn't overbearing at all, just enough to let you know it's still there.
I really like the way matcha looks in it.
I think a larger size chawan like this would be STUNNING.
(...the sounds of whispered prayers).
Heh, just on today. For an extra inch diameter ... virtually like the SO #4 Biwa Wan ... $220.00edkrueger wrote:I know Deishi makes a larger [Biwa] Chawan like these. I've seen them before on Mago.
