It's me again. Things are slowly getting a bit clearer, I'm actually thinking about buying this kyusu:

Which size would you actually prefer, the 220 ml or the 255 ml?

That Hokujo is SWEET! size probably depends on what volume you normally brew but I would personally go for the 255 shown there. for ME it would be a little more versatile as its fine not to fill it up if you brew smaller anyway. Actually usually its preferred not to fill it up too much.

I think my second e-mail to the tokoname.jp catalog went astray; when I sent a new message requesting a quote, things all happened quickly--quote, paypal transaction, shipping info, and arrival of wonderfully neatly and securely wrapped kyusus and cooling pitchers/fair cups.

Today featuring the newest kyusu in the general teaware showoff topic--

http://www.teachat.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... 24#p152924

hope that takes you to the picture. If not, check it out in my flickr photostream here--click 'all sizes' button to see larger version which shows off the sasame better, BTW:

This was their pot #989 on p.46 of the catalog, holds just 5 oz neatly.

Hello... I am looking for a kyusu with sesame filter with very small holes (so I can use it for fukamushi too). Like this one: http://www.rishi-tea.com/store/teaware_ ... etail.html (unfortunately this one is out of stock). So, does anybody know for more kyusus with filter like that? Thanks!

A lot of TCers have this Kyusu!

Have you checked out http://www.artisticnippon.com/product/t ... eindex.htm ? Pretty good selection of Sasame screen kyusu.

The Kikumaru can also be found here http://translate.google.com/translate?h ... s-002.html , but you could also ask ArtisticNippon if he can get it!

And as I posted a while ago,

http://www.teachat.com/viewtopic.php?f= ... 8&start=33

the tokoname.jp catalog has a lot of pots with sasame filters.

And the filters on the two I bought look like this:

This Den's tea kyusu has a slightly larger filter with holes of virtually identical size:

Yeah, the Den's Premium is quite nice, a bit smaller which makes it great for brewing your best sencha in smaller steeps. But feels great in hand. It is a sweet kyusu!

The top set (horizontally) says "sasame", and the second set says (roughly -- accounting for transliteration) "ceramesh". Hopefully that clears it up some? I suspect they might be used interchangeably, but I'm not sure.

Thanks... probably I will try to order kikumaru, because it looks like it has the smallest holes. Hope that's not just on the photo :D

The sasame screens are usually punched with a press machine which is why they look so perfect. I think the holes are pretty universal as a result, kind of like they all have the same machine.

So any kyusu with the Sasame will likely be just about the same.

Oh, I didn't know that, thanks. So probably sesame filter is not best choice for fukamushi :?

Now that is getting subjective.

I tend to go with stainless steel screen for when I know I want to pour faster with fuka.

But a sasame can work fine for fuka as long as you pay attention to pouring and pour slower! It becomes a bit more of a skill.
