Oh my gosh-- everyone has such gorgeous teapots! I'm in awe right now... :D I don't have any of my own currently, but I'm definitely purchasing some once I get out of college and don't have to worry about breakage while migrating between home and my dorm. :?

My mom had a couple of teapots, but they broke during a move... They were cute, but not as awesome as everyone's here!

Wonderful tea day today-- I went with some friends to the local Asian grocery and got three canisters of looseleaf tea, as well as some green tea candies and a "royal milk tea" flavored KitKat (from Japan). Started the day with two cups of jasmine green tea, currently drinking one of the new purchases (Yunnan black tea, which I'd never tried before and I now looooooove  ), probably finishing up with some white tea while studying.

I don't actually own a tea pot yet. I have my tea kettle and french press or my finum infuser basket. Still trying to decide on what my first tea pot should be. I'd love to buy several, but finances limit what I get, and I'd rather spend the money on tea to enjoy. One day I will find a tea pot!

Drinking 2nd steep iced tea made from ceylon leaves from last nights tea.

I have a nice english teapot that my mother gave me as a gift, but I've never used it. My girlfriend loves english tea parties though, so I probably will be busting it out lately.

:D Good TeaDay! None so far for me.

Here's a "cutesy" tea pot a friend gave me; it's a Tea Shop. Here's the front:

Here's a shot of the table where we gathered all but four of my teapots (the others were too high to reach w/o a ladder and I wouldn't let 73 year old Ed climb the ladder)to get ready to photograph them. The three or four in the front weren't interesting enough to photograph on their own. The little glass and black one has seen a lot of use, though. :)

The little flowery one on the left and the big graphic one on the right (as viewed) are cups with pots on top and were gifts.

I have one more image to come; but it's a puzzlement. :?:

Black Pearl again this morning; it's so easy to drop three pearls in and infuse!! Can't go wrong!

PUZZLE TIME!!!!! :!:

Help, please!

I fell in love with this little handmade teapot at a high end designer sale ten or twelve years ago. I bought it for my collection of English style pots, but after getting interested in more than black tea, surfing the web, and then joining TeaChat, I'm not sure it really is an English style pot!!!

It has a very heavy imprint on the bottom in calligraphy -- what Asian culture, I have no idea!

What do YOU think :?:

Nice collection you got going, ArtMom. Tell Ed to get up that ladder! Just kidding.

The mystery pot is reminiscent of some decorative Chinese Yixing, actually very much so. Though Yixing is not glazed.

This is likely an artisan who used Yixing as an inspiration, but made it from ceramic or porcelain (I am guessing).

ArtMom, check out the Yixing vase in my photos below. I will try and take a photo of a decorative Yixing that reminds me of your pot.

English teapots so often capture whimsy and personal interests with panache. I have always had a thing about hot air balloons, maybe going back to The Wizard of Oz? Many years later, and they still capture my imagination.

Anyway, saw this at a local teashop when I first started getting into tea 11 or so years ago. The writing is in French. Mrs. Chip gave it to me for my birthday. It too is large, of course, but everything from early on is BIG. It does have a built in screen.

Chip, I love hot air balloons! Makes me think of Around The World In 80 Days, too. I was lucky to have an exciting ride in one (we almost landed in a rather deep farm pond!) but our balloonist was an expert. I love to see them soaring over the house in the spring and fall (our summers don't work out too well for them because of the thunderstorms).

You can see by the photo of the "natural" teapot why I'm now having second thoughts about which "collection" it belongs in!

I love it! Though not altogether practical, it's really cute! (and that's actually odd for me, I'm a big one for beauty in function as much as or more than beauty in form)

Yunnan Noir for me this morning. Finally got it back from my friend's house - and all the tea was accounted for!

Very nice artmom! Thanks to Ed for all his hard work!! We appreciate it! Chip don't let my co-worker see that pot she's got a thing for hot air balloons too!

This little pot sat on my Mother's dressing table. She never used it for tea, but rather as a cache pot. I always thought it was black, it is very dark. I took a second photo with flash to show it is really brown. Hand painted and very sweet. Under 12oz I could use this but it has sentimental value.

Victoria, that little tea pot is so sweet. I can just picture your mother dropping rings, or earrings, or bracelets in there at the end of her day!

Laura, I'm the same way about "things" functioning as well as being interesting or beautiful or even "cute," however, I do enjoy looking at my Tea Shop pot. :)

This has been a fun thread for me; I wish some of you with "only one" or "plain" teapots would post them, too. Each has a story of some kind.
