Wow... real nice and welcome to the Shigaraki Kyusu club. You are now part of Ninja clan :)
Shigaraki is the name of a place in Shiga Prefecture in Japan. This place was called “Koga” once upon a time. Most Japanese knows this name, Koga, not because of the clay, but Ninja. Koga was the place where Koga Ninja was brought up.

I still haven't decided what to do with the little one yet but the bigger of the two I have for my Long jing. So far so good. I have yet to make a bad pot with it. That for me is worth the money.

Well, I did try my 1st one with Taiwan deep-fired Oolong (similar to Yancha I guess). The after-taste mellows out quicker than on a gaiwan. That smoky, bittersweet lingered in my throat for while. The thing I like about it the most is how its retains that sweet delicious smell of yancha. I do smell my empty pot from time to time  .

Shigaraki, I did a side by side comparison with my Petr kyusu, and both my SIL and I felt Petr's actually gave the tea a more rounded depth. I was using the Zealong unroasted Oolong that seemed a little flat when I had previously brewed it.

Victoria, that's an interesting finding. Personally, I tested with highest grade TGY from teaspring, and my Petr pot actually produced a flatter taste.

IIRC, you got the sister pot, which I personally requested Petr to bake the pair at low fire to increase the porosity. I don't know if you cleaned the pot thoroughly before testing or not, but I would say Petr pot absorbs and retains much more liquor from the previous brew. So if you have brewed a different tea before, I'm not sure. I also tested Petr pot with green tea (Long Jing) and white tea (Silver Needle), and I don't like the brew. But mine paired well with Rishi Bai Hao Yin Zhen. It produced a deeper flavor compared to my regular glass infuser. The after-taste lasted a bit longer than usual, but Rishi BHYZ has weak after-taste in general.

(Yes the sister pot) I think I remember cleaning it well before I started. And I had only had greener oolong in it previously. So I'm pretty sure it was close to an equal test. But you are right, if the tea is very delicate it can add too much of a metallic taste.

But this Zealong was flat to start with, so Petr's improved it. As did the Shigaraki.

Definitely sounds awesome, looks great too! I love the rustic look of the pot and the rough texture. Does the rough clay make the pot more porous allowing the water to get more oxygen? The fact that it adds more nutrients would make the water more rich, but I'd assume it'd give it a more metallic taste since iron and most minerals are sulphuric tasting. I could be incredibly wrong on this though.

Anyhow, what a nice pot and thanks for sharing the experience! Once I get all of my stuff, I'll start sharing my experiences and pictures with everyone.

That is the most Engrish translation I have ever read...definitely taken straight from Japanese to English lol.

Even though I told myself I will not purchase anymore teaware  , I cracked and got a 70 ml kyusu from hojo. They look so beautiful and I couldn't resist. They are rather expensive though. I paid $240 including shipping. Anyone else check out the new pots listed?

Here's the one I bought. Pic is from the site. Can't wait until I get it
